A good, inexpensive antenna
I have a Boston Acoustics Dou that is suppose to have good reception. Well, the antenna that came with it was just a single wire and didn't help much. I could get a couple of stations, but still had some static. I couldn't get many others. I am in the basement of an office building with no windows.I hooked the FM Dipole antenna up and mounted on the wall. It is a light color and although you can see it, it is kind of inconspicuous. I can now receive all the stations I generally listen to....most of them static free. Cant beat it for the price and simplicity. If you had the ability to move it above ground, I am sure it would be superb!

The radio looks and sounds good but has never reliably locked onto my favorite channel
Gets the job done! I had been using a Tivoli Model One radio with a Terk Technology AM/FM Radio Antenna at my office. The radio looks and sounds good but has never reliably locked onto my favorite channel. I have been frustrated for three years having to constantly tune and manually readjust to find and stay on my station and had just about decided to replace my radio with a SANGEAN (digitally tuned). The Terk antenna I was using with my radio was advertised as superior/omni directional and was relatively expensive so I was skeptical about replacing it with such an inexpensive FM dipole antenna. I decided to give it a chance and ordered this antenna as a last resort before ditching my Tivoli for the SANGEAN digital. This FM Dipole Antenna - Male "F" connector solved the problem completely. All stations now come in strong and static free and no longer drift requiring manual readjustments to the tuning knob. Recommended!

Cheap and effective way to get reception
Updated 20 March 2017:After seeing the review mentioning the lack of a transformer or balun in the connector, I decided to grab a right angle one at the local hardware store and attach it via cutting and stripping the wires to wrap around the screw connectors. The improvement was noticeable, but not as dramatic as hoped bringing in only half again as many stations and missing quite a few I used to listen to years ago.Original review:Larger than expected, it works well for getting the FM part of an AV receiver working, but don't expect miracles. If you are down in a valley like I am, it won't pull in every station like a dedicated antenna in an attic or on the roof would. It also functions much better if attached to a window rather than the wall of an old farmhouse like mine. The center of the "T" and the ends have small holes for driving a brad or nail through, however I used tape since a window was needed to get it to work. Nothing fancy, just Scotch Magic Tape.

In my case, makes reception worse
The three stars is a conditional rating - if I get an answer to one issue, I'll change it to 5 stars. The issue is with the reception when this external FM antenna is attached to the radio. I bought the "FM Dipole Antenna - Male "F" connector" external FM antenna by MCM Electronics that Amazon recommends with the Sangean WR-15WL radio. With the switch on the back of the radio set to Int (internal antenna), reception is pretty good - at least 20 stations have strong enough signals to make the green tuning LED light. When the switch is switched to Ext and the external antenna is attached, reception becomes poor, with only a few signals strong enough to light the green LED tuning indicator. The literature that ships with the radio recommends a 75 ohm external antenna. The info on Amazon for the FM Dipole Antenna - Male "F" connector by MCM says that this is a 75 ohm antenna. A reviewer responding in the Q&A section for this antenna disputes that, claiming that it's actually a 300 ohm antenna. I read a couple web sites that offer explanations about the different resistances in FM antennae, but I didn't really understand it. So I don't know if I bought a 75 ohm or a 300 ohm antenna, and I don't understand why attaching this FM antenna to the radio makes reception worse, compared to using the radio's internal antenna.

Antenna Works Great
I moved a four year old Sony Surround A/V receiver to the basement. I was disappointed to discover I could not receive a single FM Radio station. I read numerous reviews on several basic FM antennas and chose this antenna. Man, I never though a basic antenna would make so much difference. I live 45 miles from one large city, and 60 miles from another. I now get all the radio stations I get in my car from both cities, plus many more. I did have to fiddle around with the antenna location to get the best reception with the maximum stations. But what a difference this antenna made. There may be other antennas that provide a comparable outcome. I can only speak for this one. What an improvement it made on my reception.

Better than expected.
Interesting. It is a high quality "double-wire" antenna. Used this on an old Onkyo receiver which I lost it's Dipole Antennna wire in our last move. Seems as good as or better than the OEM cable that came with our receiver. I was able to go from picking up one FM station with no cable to picking up over two-dozen stations in Stereo. Was well worth the 7.79 price tag. Something like this in the big box store would be 14+ bucks. We received it in two-days via Amazon prime. The only thing I did not like was the RG "F" connector was not gold plated, but kind-of knew that by the picture. All-and-all it was a great buy.
