Sturdiest Smart Phone Holder Yet
I have to admit--I have never before been a fan of smart phone vent holders. However, this one may convert me. This holder comes with a suction cup holder for the windshield, and a vent holder. I primarily got it for the windshield holder. Suction cups are not my favorite holder; I much prefer more permanent holders with strong adhesives and/or strong magnets. However, I have found windshield suction cup mounting to be acceptable when more permanent mounting is not possible due to lack of appropriate surfaces in the car's cockpit. (I give you this not to bore you with my preferences, but instead because I believe that confessing my pre-evaluation biases will help give you a better context for the evaluation I share about the product.)The suction cup holder is the most substantial I have ever used. It holds securely, without having much wobble or "drift," like the holders I have used that utilize a "gooseneck" style. I have confidence in the cradle and the holder that connects it to the suction cup, will hold it with little vibration or tilting. Its narrowest point is a ball socket with a screw tensioner that holds it securely. (Since the source of most instability is the narrowest point of the holder--and why gooseneck holders are so unstable--the narrow part is very long.) This stability will make it much LESS likely to become a distraction during driving than the other, less stable styles of connecting the holder to the windshield suction cups. The vent holder was the real surprise, though. I have been heavily against those since trying a few when I first went to a smart phone. I would never have bought one on purpose. I only looked at it because it came with the windshield mount for which I bought the package. However, one look and I was immediately interested. It has a screw-clamp arrangement that securely grips the fins of the vent. I had never seen that before. (That may be old news, I don't know. I had written off vent holders long, long ago.) Then, it also has a projection perpendicular to the axis of the main holder, that stabilized the angle of the vent clamp in the vent, so even if your car's vent fins are too loose, it will still sit with stability. I was impressed by this. The ball socket that holds the cradle to the vent-gripper is the same stable screw tensioner used in the windshield mount. For the first time since I first evaluated one of them--I am actually trying out the vent holder FIRST!My only question is to durability. How well will the plastic hold up to cracking? Will wear-and-tear cause the screw tensioner or the vent clamp to become less secure in time? If it fails, I will update this review. Without such an update, you may assume it is still working well for me.

Well Made and Totally Adjustable
I was excited after receiving the car mount and seeing the many ways possible to mount it in my car. I could use the suction cup and put it on my dash or windshield, or I could use the adhesive pad for a permanent place on my dash that wasn’t completely flat.It also comes with a telescopic arm, extending it just a little over 4 inches so you can easily see it while driving no matter where you place it. Then there was a third choice, I could mount it on my air vent. While it doesn’t get really hot where I live, I was still worried about the suction cup and adhesive staying put, so I opted to place it on my air vent. This was easy to do with the special clip that was provided. You can then adjust the angle of your phone to where you can see it.I'm happy with the actual phone holder. My husband and I both use the same car and we have different sized phones. With just the push of a quick release button, you can easily adjust the holder to snuggly fit all sized cellphones between 4-6.5 inches. My husband has a large phone, and all he has to do pull down the adjustable legs to make it fit. It comes with silicone pads on the sides to grip your phone and it is so easy to assemble. This is NOT a cheap piece of plastic. It's well made, durable and precise. Well worth it. No more shuffling around the car to find the phone. It's always easy accessible and safely viewable.

Good device/good deal
This is a good cell phone holder...so far. It was easy to assemble and easy to install. The suction was tremendous on my dash (without the sticky dash disc). after assembly, I initially applied the suction directly to the dash (after I cleaning with an alcohol pad and dried thoroughly) and the suction was super strong. So I wanted to try the sticky dash disc...applied it to the dash as flat and firm as I could , then applied the suction; the strength of the suction and stability was far less than when applied directly onto the dash. So I took the disc off and reapplied the suction cup directly on the dash and it works great.PROS: +great suction.+holds phone secure. +360 deg. rotation. +tilting function. +telescopic arm. +button release. +fit/function and +price.CONS: with arm extended all the way out, there is a lot of bouncing of the phone (my phone is a LG Stylo 6 and heavy-ish a lighter phone might not be problematic). This might cause more wear & tear on the unit than usual. The rotation function is a little stiff and stubborn. I suspect that might be due to the newness of the device.-----I did not try the Vent Clip yet, so no review for that.HOWEVER, I really like the DesertWest Cell Holder Dash Mount and do recommend it.

This is a great phone holder- especially if you own a very large phone
This is hands down the best phone holder Ive ever bought. Its great that an accessory company finally has figured out the giant phones (Notes, LG V's, Iphone+) all weigh a lot more than other phones. They also cost upwards of $900-1000 and people that spend that kind of cash usually put on big armor case like a Otter Box Defender or similar- which makes a very wide phone even wider. This holder actually can open up a bit more than 3 1/2" wide (for those of us in the USA that dont own a metric tape measure) I have a Note 9 with said OtterBox and can easily put it in the holder and shut it easily. It has a substantial feel to it as well, it doesnt feel or sound cheap when using it. Ive gone thru alot of generic holders on Amazon, I usually buy the cheapest one that I think will fit my phone, most dont. Every cheapo holder Ive had has a super sticky suction cup that holds onto the glass like a barnacle. The problem I have is that the spring that holds the suction cup to the arm of the holder gets weak or sloppy and causes the holder to start bouncing or the arm starts sagging down and no amount of lever adjustment or screw tightening can fix it. This holder has not even started to do that after months of daily use- I drive alot, every day. Very happy with this product.
