Important historical, political and social document
The pictures are wonderful but Bianchi's text is what makes this book compelling. I taught college courses on AIDS for almost twenty years and it became harder and harder to make my students understand what gay life was like in New York before AIDS and in the years immediately after the outbreak. This book is a compellingly important part of the historical record.

OMG, tom is literally the gustav klimt of modern photography ! ^^
at long last this is the "la pièce manquante" looking into the so heavenly bianchi world. the book is frank, intimate, meticulous reproduced, and with shoots that strangely still look really really modern now, well, may be with the help of those oh so trendy again tached and bearded objects i think. quite different from the usually bright white sunny tone of his other books. the images all swam in warm luscious tone though out, omg, can't help but think tom is literally the gustav klimt of modern photography ! highly enjoyable and so perfectly done ! me boys, some of u will be getting this book from me come christmas ! ENJOY ! \^0^/

A great way to relive the 70s-80s
Unlike the author's more current work (which is beautiful, but becomes overwhelming at times), this work harkens back to a more innocent time (the photos are Polaroids) when the author was just starting his work, so it doesn't seem so blow-dried, moisturized, perfected. A time when men's bodies could have flaws and yet still be worthy of the male-gaze.

It is not quite as sexy as I expected.
It's fine. I expected the reprintings of the images to be larger than they were, but it's fine. It you are a Bianchi fan, then this is a fine book for you.

Beautiful
I wish more photos were included, but it's still worth the price. It's a beautiful book and a lovely window into an intimate world.

Wonderful
Wonderful love this artist. Have had a lot off his books, but in the end, all donated to the local LGBT community library.

Beautiful
A poignant, insight, human and beautiful selection of images fo Tom Bianchi's life. This book is wonderful coffee table reading and a fantastic insight into gay life in 70s / 80s NYC. The quality of the book is excellent and it is just so wonderful to flick through

Interesting but not as good as his previous book
Enjoyable historic pix but could have been better. Including some blurry images - are we seeing EVERYTHING he's ever taken regardless of merit? Not as enjoyable as his previous Pines book but that was exceptional.

Gutted
Arrived in dreadful condition. No option for refund or return. Don’t bother with this. Really disappointing.

Strange attempt to celebrate memory of a great photographer
Although a very interesting photo testimony to queer art, this book is somewhat disappointing, because the format of these famous pictures shows too small compared to the size of pages. Editor's idea of giving the impression of polaroids (to render the original format) nevertheless remains a bad one: pictures should have been enlarged in order to be fully appreciated, such as featured on the book's cover page. Such an inadequate presentation within the book does not help for what can be considered as a still honest attempt to perpetuate the memory of an outstanding photographer.

An Important Book.
If you like Tom Bianchi - this book is incredible. A true capture of a world not seen until now.I recommend this book to anyone in love with both contemporary photography and queer history.
