The best berry huller. Give them as little gifts!
If you've never tried one of these strawberry hullers, you're missing out. I live in north county, San Diego. We have some of the sweetest local strawberries that make store-bought taste like dust. Consequently, we buy a lot during the season. Most people cut the tops off. What a waste! This tool will remove the green top and none of the delicious berry. A little twist of the wrist and you have a full strawberry with just a little dent in the top where the stem was. And here's a helpful tip: take your strawberries, plunk them all in a bowl of water with a little vinegar. Swish them around a bit to clean them and then hull. Lay them on layers of towel or paper towel to dry and then place them loosely in a clean jar with a top. They'll keep in the refrigerator for a long time! You're welcome!

Works great!
When I purchased this core tool, I used it for tomatoes but never thought to branch out. I bought a lot of strawberries recently and was eager to speed up the prep so I got this item and got to work. The berries had very big leaves on the top, plus the tops of the fruit were not red enough. I began by plucking the leaves (very easy because of their size) and piling the strawberries in a bowl. I love efficiency so I always take the most repeatable steps possible. When I got to the denuded fruit, I applied the corer in a circular motion. SURPRISE! I had made the perfect round scoop to fill the berries with a cream cheese concoction that really made a wonderful dessert for our dinner. It's the little things in life, right?

Exactly what you expect in a tomato corer
I also use this for taking the tops off strawberries. A sturdy, versatile little tool. I had one for years, and the only reason I bought another one is because I lost the first one. Good value, good size, plenty sharp. I have also used it for taking the out out of cherries after cutting them in half and twisting the halves apart.

Does its Job Well
I bought this as a gift for a tomato lover and I tried it out first. It does the job well and it is easy to use. I like that silicone/rubber grip. It makes it softer to hold than bare metal and it allows for a stronger grip. The head of the tool is smaller and less sharp than I expected so there were a few tomatoes (homegrown) that had thicker stems and took a bit more work. That said, I didn't have any tomatoes that didn't work on it. It was also great on strawberries, and I imagine a few other fruits as well. The head is small enough to work on apple bad spots or other fruit that need a small spot taken out.The person I gave this to loved it and has used it every day. They said it was a nice product and one that that needed but never bought for themselves. This would be a nice gift for a kitchen gadget person, or a first-time cook. It is a decent product for the price.

A great little tool!
I’m looking at processing over 40-50 lbs of tomatoes this fall and this little tool will make it infinitely easier! The little spikes hold the device in place and then it works like a melon baller. I had tried a melon baller in the past and it wasn’t sharp enough to penetrate the tomato skin. I’m buying a second one of these because I dont ever want to be without one of these EVER again!
