Cardo45mm Audio Set, Works with Most Helmet Communicators (Single Pack)

We need to talk
I'm conflicted about this review. First, i own a Cardo Spirit HD headset (two of them actually) which comes with JBL speakers. They're 40mm, so a bit smaller than these.Cardo has an app to download firmware and control your headset.Like all motorcycle comms, the price was outrageous. I will never know why they're so expensive. It's bluetooth. And 2 speakers. You can do all that and more for 20 bucks. Want it in a helmet?Five thousand dollars.Anyway, the Cardo app has sound profiles that you can switch between like "bass boost" or "high volume".Except they don't work. They're THERE, but they're greyed out.How do you get access to them?Buy these speakers of course!99 dollar pay wall for audio access. With that said, these ARE an upgrade. Bigger drivers means better sound. It always has, and always will.Yes, paying another hundred bucks to get what you should've already got kinda sucks, but a helmet and comms will run you 6 million dollars nowadays, so what's another hundred right?TL;DR-Should be standard, but it's not. Absolutely worth the price. Better sound, higher volume, EQ controls unlocked.

Update: Big Upgrade
UPDATE: I upraded helmets from the Bell Qualifier DLX which has a mesh/fabric flap that covers the speakers, to a Shoei RF-SR that places the speaker directly on your ear without it being covered. The speakers sound AMAZING, very clear and bassy, and I don't have to turn the volume up as much now. Definitely make sure it's not your helmet or the positioning first.I have the Cardo Spirit HD with 40mm speakers, and decided I'd upgrade to these for better sound quality and hopefully volume. If you already have the Spirit HD speakers, these are not an upgrade. They're quieter, the sound profiles are somehow worse (less bass,) and the price just isn't worth it. They do have slightly crisper sound at lower volumes, but I would recommend just keeping the HD speakers, they're about the best you're gonna get from Cardo. If you're upgrading from other speakers, these ARE good, they aren't low quality at all, and the sound is clear. It gets muddy at high volume, but most other speakers probably do that. I think the price would be worth it if I was upgrading from lower quality speakers.

A bit fuller/richer/bassier/louder than the standard 40mm JBL-Cardo speakers
I bought a set of these 45mm JBL/Cardo speakers to try in a new LS2 helmet. I already have the Cardo Freecom 4x comm device that is equipped with the 40mm JBL speakers. The LS2 Drifter helmet comes with large speaker pockets that allowed these speakers to fit without modification. Compared to the 40mm JBL's, the 45mm's are a bit fuller and richer in sound, and that certainly makes a difference inside a helmet. The bass is also a touch heavier. They also play a touch louder at equal volume levels. Are they worth the extra cost? I bought a set of Used-Like New for $74, so I'm satisfied with the purchase and results.

Better Clarity and Volume even compared to the smaller JBLs!
I ordered these wondering if they’d even be much of an upgrade since I have a brand new Freecom 2X with the regular 40mm JBL speakers. I am actually blown away by the increase in clarity and volume I get out of these! These work fantastically and I’m excited to go for a ride with them and see how it compares because inside with no wind noise it sounds amazing. We shall see!

Product not new!
Sold as new but definitely used... the velcro/tape in the box was obviously ripped off an old helmet and unusable. As for the speakers I do think the sound quality was slightly better than the stock cardo spirit speakers and slightly more clarity at top volume, for that they are great, but for those looking for higher volume than stock then no they are the same. Both the stock and jbl's are loud it's just a matter of reducing wind noise.
