Works great!
Shipping was fast with no breaks or cracks. I received it yesterday, washed it all up and used it for the first time last night. So easy to use. I absolutely love it!!!! Okay, the plastic bowls are not real sturdy, so I wouldn't let a child mess with them or give them any rough treatment, but as long as you are careful with them, they should last a long time. I put fresh salmon on the bottom, mixed frozen veggies in the middle one and frozen asparagus in the top one for about 25 minutes. It all turned out perfect and no leaking. Can't wait to try some little new potatoes tonight and fresh broccoli. Says it will make hard boiled eggs also for deviled eggs. I'll be trying that next. I am very happy with my purchase.

Wall Thickness of Steamer
Would have liked the wall thickness of the the steamer trays as thick as my old Oyster unit.

It does what it's supposed to do
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought this for my dad as a way to help him get healthy after a crazy health scare last year. It's safe to say that this product does everything it says and my dad loves it and still has it to date

Cooks veggies perfectly but is very light and a bit flimsy.
It works well but takes a bit of experimentation to get the cooking times right, especially when stacking more than one steamer bowl. I have found that putting vegetables requiring a longer cook time, like carrots, in the bottom bowl and others like green beans in the upper works best. It takes a while for the steam to saturate the lower bowl and travel to the upper. But once the optimum cooking time is determined, it does a perfect job. My only complaint is that is very light and feels cheap. The bottom plates for the bowls fit over plastic pins on the bowl base rims which hold them in place, but these seem quite fragile and I'm afraid they won't last very long. Also, the little water filling drawer is useless for all practical purposes, small and difficult to pull out, so I don't use it. It's just easier to fill the reservoir before mounting the bowls. The lighted water level indicator is great and the digital controls work very well. It also has rounded wells in the bottom plates for boiling eggs or supporting corn on the cob placed vertically for cooking. It is also quite versatile and can be configured to cook 2 or (with the third bowl) 3 items separately. For small single item cooking, a single bowl is fine. For large amounts, the bottom plate(s) can be removed from the upper bowl(s) to configure a single, large capacity steaming chamber. It is also quite easy to disassemble and clean.

Good stuff!
Works great! Quality pieces! The bottoms to the trays are a little finicky to put in and take out, but I believe I will get used to it. Heats up pretty quick, steaming within 5-6 minutes. Didn't feel like anything was questionably built or anything -- quality build. The water meter with its red light could be a little easier to read... If it's near the MAX line, it will look full. But that may be an impractical solution.

Leaks! Timer defective!
Bought this to replace my Oster steamer, which still works after 15 years, but the lid handle is broken. I knew it would be hard to replace, but I had an open mind about trying this Hamilton Beach steamer. First issue (can’t believe no else mentioned this): the timer only goes as high as 1 hour. Rice takes longer than 1 hour! How can Hamilton Beach write instructions specifying 67-70 minutes for rice when the timer can only be set to 1 hour?! I had to set another timer and come back to add time to the steamer. Second issue: water dripped out continuously from the bottom of the steamer basket all over the kitchen counter - luckily I noticed and put a towel around it so it didn’t end up on my wood floor. As a result, the water basin ran low and the steamer turned off. After I added more water it did resume steaming and the rice turned out fine. I’m returning it.

Doesn't last 2 years warranty I'd only for one year
Worked great for 2 years, then it started taking 8-10 to build up steam to cook our veggies, throws off the cooking time you set.
