I recently bought three "queen" sized black blankets. I was specifically looking for black color, easy care (no dry cleaning), robust materials (synthetics), queen size (60 in × 80 in).The three blankets I bought were:Northpoint Odyssey Ultra Cozy Plush Blanket, Full/Queen, Black, $24.99, ASIN: B00BJFH8AU.Archangel Reversable 2Ply Queen Solid Mink Blanket - Black, $28.99, by Archangel, ASIN: B00FN5RBJK.Brand New Queen Size Solid Super Soft Plush Mink Blanket Black, $34.97, by Sara, ASIN: B000BLKUTEThe Northpoint Odyssey has a matted texture, unlike the combed texture shown in it's picture. And, like many of it's other reviewers, I found it was shedding an awful lot. It's huge 90"x90" size along with the fact that it was very soft and pleasant to touch, along with it's lower price still made it a reasonable blanket, but I would wash it heavily before use, though I am not certain that would resolve the shedding problems.The Archangel blanket and the Sara blankets were very comparable when it came to softness, thickness, and weight.However, the Archangel blanket had square corners (cheaper looking), it's ink bled when exposed to common household chemicals while the other two blankets did not (cheap dyes were used and it's going to bleed everywhere), and actually measured 80"x86" instead of the claimed 78" X 90". This one is a 2-ply blanket and both sides have the same texture and color. However, even though it was 2-ply, it was not any thicker than the Sara blanket.The Sara blanket is single ply, and one side is true black wile the other is a charcoal black (slightly lighter) with a different texture. The corner are rounded and the edging looked like it was of higher quality than the Archangel blanket. However, the corner stitching came undone when I tried to wash the blanket (see picture). Actual measurements were 78"x92", which makes it slightly longer than the claimed 78" x 90" inches. One negative of the Sara blanket is that it has a large sewn-in "Sara" tag which does not look good and will need to be removed.Overall, I would avoid the Archangel blanket because of it's bleeding issues and false size claims.I previously had recommended the Sara blanket over the others, but after it's stitching fell apart, I don't think so highly of it.All three blankets are from China, so you should probably conduct your own tests for lead, melamine, sulfides, and other carcinogens before rolling around naked in them. It's a buyer-beware world.UPDATE: The Sara blanket care tag says it is "HAND WASH AND DRY ONLY". Had I known this before I bought it, I would not have bought it at all.UPDATE2: The Sara blanket's edge stitching has come undone in multiple locations upon the first time I tried to wash it. It's garbage.

This is a great blanket for the cost. I have read a lot of the reviews and I did not experience any of the issues other buyers reported. The blanket had no odd smells out of the package. I washed the blanket in a low setting, as the label recommended, with Downy fabric softener. When I took it out of the washer there was a little shedding as previous buyers reported. I shook the blanket before putting it in the dryer on low setting to remove the little bit of shedding that I noticed taking it out of the washer. Coming out of the washer the dryer is very soft and has not shed one single piece since I put it on my bed after washing and drying. This blanket is warm, soft and very comfortable and for the price you just cant go wrong. Its a great addition to queen platform bed with the black satin sheet set I recently purchased.Another note, I ordered this blanket on a Saturday, and FedEx was delivering the blanket by that Tuesday. I have not had any of the issues previous reviewers have encountered.

2009, bought this blanket in black, and in 2017 it's still my favorite blanket. Though it isn't as big as our comforter, it is super warm! When I lived in a much colder area I would wear it outside to check the mail and have a smoke in snow storms. I even joked about turning the blanket into some kind of cloak or cape type thing so I could wear it all around without looking like a weirdo (if I could sew better I would have). Also, use max fabric softener in the wash and dryer sheets and the blanket will soak up all the wonderful scents and cling to them for a long time! I wash on gentle cold cycle and dry on low heat, and it still looks great when wrapped in it like a burrito :) The only Con I can think of is it being a cat hair magnet.

This blanket is seriously a life saver. I ordered this while at school and it couldn't have arrived at a better time. My dorm is in the basement so its usually freezing in there and we're not allowed to have heat fans for obvious fire hazard reasons, but this blanket makes it okay because it's so warm and comfy. Everyone who sits on my bed loves it! there are two sides to the blanket- one thats extremely silky and smooth like shown in the picture and one thats kinda more rough. When I first ordered it I though the whole blanket was going to be all silky, but it still didn't bother me that it wasn't. Also, the black isn't really what it looks like in the picture. The black blanket is literally a dark as night black.

I love the thickness and softness of this blanket. I very much dislike the non-"mink" hemming around the edge, which is causing me to use this one as a blanket folded at the foot at the bed and buy a better quality red blanket, but it will still get use, probably cold nights on the couch! There was an ugly label/tag stitched in one of the corners, but it was easily able to be removed with the right tools. Blanket has held up through the wash and, if anything, is even more silky soft coming out of the dryer! However, it is a terrible lint magnet for absolutely any hair, fur, or particles that may be floating around your house! Keep a lint brush handy.

First off, I need to stress that I LOVE this blanket. I've owned a few other acrylic minks and this one is admittedly different; lusciously soft on one side and the alternate side is indeed a different texture and less soft/plush than the front. if you need an item with identical sides, this isn't it. If a single incredibly tactile surface is okay, this is awesome. Texturally, the soft side is closer to high grade faux fur than blanket. Quite warm as plush blankets go and the sizing was quite generous. Well stitched banding on the sides. Only odd bit? A bit of the 'fur' is white towards the edge. Doesn't bug me but might bother some. For all you animal parents, the kitty will never leave this alone!
