I got this hot end to replace the old one on my Robo 3D R1 printer, which I’ve been restoring.This one looked pretty much the same, other than the thermistor, so I ordered it because it was half the cost of the ‘official’ hot end.My printer is an R1, not an R1+, but I’ve made a few mods to make it more like an R1+, including installing a factory quick-release plate for the hot end.This hot end doesn’t work well with the quick release plate. There is something different at the top collar compared to the original, so when everything is assembled and tightened up, the hot end wiggles a bit. A wiggly nozzle is a worthless nozzle, so I went back to the original R1 method of using two screws that go into the side of the carriage. This resulted in a nice, solid fit.This hot end heats up very quickly, about twice as fast as the original. The heat element must be a higher power model, but it doesn’t seem to strain the power supply. I was worried that I might have to modify the firmware for the different thermistor, but it seems to work properly with the old settings.The print quality is fine with the new nozzle, and it’s not leaky at all.The only issue that I have with it is that it’s not a perfect fit with the quick release plate, and I would have liked that it came with a silicone cover for the heat block. Other than those things, it’s a good replacement.

As someone who shouldn’t be allowed to work on anything electronic, I have a history of breaking things. For that reason, I purchased this item. After receiving and installing the hotend, it printed once and then started to stop printing. After reading through some forums, I figured out the issue.When you install the hotend, you will need to go in and adjust the fan settings so it doesn’t give temp errors on stop printing and throwing out errors. Mine is set to 20, 30, and 40. After fixing that issue, I’m now able to print without issue.I’m happy with my purchase and, if another is needed, I’ll definitely buy another of the same.Edit: Five months post purchase and installation, the hot end stopped heating mid-print and clogged fairly often. I’ll be looking into getting a new hotend...again.Edit to add for May 24, 2020 purchase: Attempted to make a print this morning with the newly received hot end and it looked like so. Not so happy since I can’t make my items until I get a new hot end.... again.

It's cheap enough witch may be part of the issues.First off it looks almost identical to the original that was in my printer.It wasn't assembled right so I had to reseat the break and nozzle.After that I had to reset the Z on the printer.I have done 4 projects that were very impressive.But for not now I'm getting low heat errors.Will update if I find a solution.4\17\22Lowering the fan speed seemed to fix the problem.You may be able to change the PID if lowering your fan speed is not an option.Proceed with caution if you go that route.4\27\22Took off and cleaned well re seated the nozzle closer to the heat block.Was able to raise fan back where i was comfortable and am able to use lower temps.As of this edit I'm printing rep wrap petg at 215 and it is smooth as silk.Raised my rating.I cant give a 5 because you should not have to reseat the nozzle to begin with.

First one got jammed after a few months so I used a replacement. Then another few months and the thermistor material fell apart. I tried to replace the thermistor with the old one but the set screw was jammed and couldn't get it even after heating. It was eventually stripped. As I was replacing the second hot end the connectors for the heater came right off. The pins on the inside were barely crimped. Now I'm on my third hot end within a few months.

It is not a perfect fit for the Kickstarter version of the robo r1, but the original was not very good so this is a necessary upgrade. I waited a long time to upgrade because I didn’t really use the machine too much. I am using it again now and glad I ordered. I had an issue and the support from the seller was great and I highly recommend buying this if you need one.

This thing fell apart as I was installing it. I got so mad I f'n threw it the trash. Cheap cheap cheap Junk junk junk.

My OEM hotend for my robo 3D was jammed with filament due to what I presume was heat creep. I ordered this replacement and it worked great. I have had 40+ hours of successful prints with it. If you need a replacement this is it!
