Maxima 74908 Chain Wax - 5.5 oz. Aerosol

So I’ve been using PJ1 Blue for at least 4 years and overall it’s a good product, no complaints. But after I watched a video that tested several chain lubricants and after seeing Maxima place well in every category (much better than PJ1), I decided to give it a try. I did the two step process 1) clean with Maxima Chain Cleaner 2) Apply Maxima Chain Wax. Both product worked outstanding! 1) Maxima Chain Cleaner - I was warned in the test video that Maxima cleaner can get past o-ring seals and dilute the factory permanent lub therefore I used it sparingly, spraying onto my chain cleaning brush versus spraying directly on the chain. Scrubbed with the brush then flushed with the garden hose afterwards. No mess and cleaned the chain great. 2) Maxima Chain Wax - After the chain dried, I applied the wax. This was a little drippy and messy but not as drippy as PJ1 (both are easy to use). I use a plastic bottle cut in half to catch the overspray and dripping product so very little drips on the ground. The Maxima clung-on and dried faster than PJ1 but not by much. I saturated the chain more than I normally do and was pleased to see it stay on the chain and not drip off. The Maxima seemed to penetrate the rollers better than PJ1 but that’s just a guess. So, if the Maxima last 500 miles (like PJ1) it will be a winner. Some reviewers claim it will go 800 miles, time will tell..

Top of the line chain lube. If you don't enjoy spending time cleaning your chain to reapply fresh lube, this is the stuff to get. It won't fling off in the first place- you put a light coat on a warm chain it soaks in and lasts for thousands of miles. The result is a well-lubed clean chain without rust or dirt sticking to it.

Maxima 74920 Chain Wax is an outstanding product! It provides superb lubrication and protection, keeping my chain running smoothly for extended periods. I love how it applies evenly and doesn't fling off during rides, even in tough conditions. The 13.5 oz. aerosol can is convenient, and a little goes a long way, making it great value for money. Possibly the best chain wax out there don’t apply when hot. Give it time to dry minimal fling.

Much better than my usual motul chain lube. I would leave the motul overnight and even wipe the excess, but would still have it spit past the chain guard and make a mess, gunked up my rear sets, etc. this stuff goes on easy, wipes off easy, and doesn’t create a sticky residue. I put it on and rode shortly after and had almost no spraying. I’d recommend you put it on a warm chain, wipe the excess, and leave it over night.

This works very well. I just think it is overpriced.

It's the best chain lube I have ever used , works well in the small linkages and does not dry out like others ,, I also use it on my vans steering u\j's works a treat .... Would highly recommend

A superb quality chain lube. I bought it on sale day. The chain lube gives chain a brown color which looks a bit different. It is actually a wax spray type lube. Cleaned my chain properly and then sprayed well on chain. I have to say it really did its job perfectly and more than expected. The chain produces no sound at all and is runs very smooth. The main plus point is that it is not wasted as u spray on chain and it grips firmly on the chain making a thick film. It is particularly for summer and winter seasons but is not that much effective for rainy season. But it is really a great product at reasonable price. If anyone looking for on road and off road biking, blindly go for this.

This chain wax is awsome, put it in your hot chain, wait a little before going to ride again and pratically no leak at first ride !!!! No mess on back wheel it took about 2 minutes to take off some oil drop and that’s it !!! 😀 Just fantastic, i always had a mess on the rear wheel with other chain wax it was a nightmare but not with this one ! 👌👌👌 Will buy it again and again for sure !
