An Educational Game that's Addictively Fun!
Scribblenauts is an addictive adventure game geared toward elementary school students, though it's also quite fun for grownups. After Maxwell's sister is cursed for a mean prank they played, Maxwell sets off to reverse the curse by performing lots of good deeds throughout a wide variety of interesting locales. How does Maxwell perform good deeds? With his magic notepad, which can create all sorts of objects, you just have to spell the word. Kitty stuck in the tree? Write a ladder and climb up. Or write a dog and put it up there to scare the cat down. Or write a jetpack so Maxwell can fly up. There are tons of solutions to the problems. You can also add adjectives to objects. Mummy attacking you? Make him friendly or sleepy. Or have fun making characters cute, fat, tall, young, hungry, bald, winged or undead. You can play entirely on the Wii U gamepad; the TV just provides a bigger image of the area Maxwell is exploring. The range of words in the game's dictionary is amazing. One time my daughter added theistic as an adjective to a plant, and a little halo appeared over the leaves. Need to teach someone about art? How about writing a pedantic artist? The game is a great tool for improving kids' spelling and vocabulary. The locales involved are fascinating, too. There's a haunted house, a medieval castle, a zoo with dinosaurs, the ocean, even a prison. The game is probably best for kids in 1st through 4th grade. My 1st grader loves it and easily plays on her own. My preschooler is fascinated with the game, but doesn't have the spelling ability to play alone. I'll admit, though, that I've enjoyed playing the game, too, and have found myself laughing out loud at some of the ridiculous creations that pop out of Maxwell's notebook.

Decent *nodding head*
My son "beat" all the levels and still pops it in the WiiU from time to time. It's like a zen place it takes him. What other game lets him make people tiny or giant (Mario and his mushroom), stink, or whatever weird fascination he has that day. His friends like to play it too.I thought it would be weird before I understood what was going on (read reviews and only saw it on the shelf). Or maybe it just came out before my son could read and I was like "what, take time and read video games to him. nu-uh I have more important things to do with my time while you are parented by your video machine."The music is decent if your going to be stuck listening to something for an hour long period (that's right, mandated breaks so maybe he comes back to reality once in a while and doesn't turn into one these people from my generation with no regard for people or non sarcasm).I'd rather hear him singing it than the ever pervasive Mario tune. Hum that on a playground sometime and discover the child symphony you can set off-providing you go to a playground with normal children who play video games, but aren't bred to beat their parent's friends at Call of Duty or Halo.

GREAT game from a wonderful family owned developer
GREAT game from a wonderful family owned developer. (Yes, a friend of mine was the original lead designer for the first Scribblenauts game on DS, so I know a bit about the developer and could be called biased)My ten year old daughter has been a huge fan of the series for a few years now, and loves being able to play it on both the big screen and the gamepad. The game introduces a new element, rather than just solving one puzzle any number of ways and advancing to the next "level", you are presented with lots of much larger worlds with lots of puzzle solving opportunities available and you can approach them and solve them any way you like, in any order you prefer. It feels like their version of a more "open world" approach, except it's all still in 2D. Just imagine Maxwell walking through a town and observing all of the various people and animals facing a dilemma/challenge of some kind, and you have to think of ways to help resolve the situation. Cat stuck in a tree, a car is on fire, a restaurant oven is broken, a doctor is trying to help a sick person, etc.Very much recommended, and the game usually sells for around $20, which is a fantastic deal.

Solid Family Fun!
It's cool when a game is playable and enjoyable by everyone in the family, and the Scribblenauts series is just that. Having played previous versions, we all knew about what to expect, but Scribblenauts Unlimited is the peak of the series so far. The addition of "adjectives" to enhance objects you can create gives the game a whole new level of depth and possibility.Example: moments after completing the requisite tutorial level, my 13 year old daughter wastes no time typing "Giant Flying Baby". The game responds perfectly, and quite literally creates a 15 foot tall diapered infant with cherub wings...which you can ride around the level. Brilliant. You can create just about anything you can imagine, given a little experimentation. Yes, a Sharknado is entirely possible. While the game has the same downsides as previous Scribblenauts titles (mostly the potentially slow pacing), the fact that kids and adults can set their imaginations free in a family-friendly game is enough to warrant 4 stars.

Surprising, endless, and creative gameplay!
The main missions on the game have you helping others by using a magic notebook that creates anything you write into it. To help them you simple right it an object that could help them with their problem. There are also hidden tasks you can do by combining objects with each to make a reaction. Hidden levels too. There are adjectives you can add to objects to change it's behavior. You can also make custom items that you can share online. You can customize the look and properties of the object to make it do different stuff. You can then put you objects in the game and make them do cool stuff like make a little war between invincible soldiers or make a school of ginormous flying fish. Unlimited is in it's name for a reason. The Wii U version has exclusive multiplayer, exclusive nintendo characters, and nice touchscreen controls with HD graphics. It includes everything else the 3DS and PC versions have to offer.

Very enjoyable game. You MUST get this for your kid if you have a wii u (they need to know how to write).Believe me, it is an INCREDIBLE experience. I am 22 and i keep playing this game.It looks really childish but once you get in the vibe of the game you realise it's incredibly complete, it offers a unique gameplay and it's really an experience worth the try.
