Been using this for 3 years, and still happy
I didn't usually leave reviews, but I had to add a positive one after seeing all the negatives. I've been using this for 3 years, and while it has a few quirks, I'd call it a game changer for my setup. I use 3 inputs (switch, PC, PS5), and 3 outputs (monitor, TV, projector). So I'm mostly using just 3x3. I occasionally use the fourth input when I need to hook up a raspberry pi or guest laptop or something. It was a little confusing to remember which input and output is what, so I printed some labels. After a couple days I don't need the labels anymore. One big complaint I see in other reviews is the remote. Admittedly, I never tried the remote. Might have dodged a headache with that. I just use the buttons on the front of the device. If I want to switch the TV, I just hit the button in front of the first output until I get to the input device I want. It has become second nature and I don't even have to think about it anymore. I switch it pretty regularly and the device sits on my desk within easy reach. I've never felt it necessary to try the remote, though that doesn't apply to everyone. I looked at the remote when I got it and thought it was too much noise. The only major issues I've had are that sometimes when it's already set to my computer, and the computer is asleep, then I can't seem to wake up the computer. The computer seems awake but the switch isn't passing it through to the monitor. I've found that turning on one of the other outputs, or switching another output to use the computer input will immediately fix the problem, then I can go back to the way it was before. It's a mild annoyance, but it's really not a deal breaker.

Quality control issues
This is a review of the gofanco PRO-Matrix44-SC. It is a 4x4 HDMI matrix switch with auto downscaling from 4K to 1080p. Now that I've gotten everything working, it is fine and it works as advertised. But getting there was an adventure.I'll start by noting that the 4K to 1080p downscaling works quite well. It does appear to output real 4K to compatible devices while 1080p displays connected to the same input receive a 1080p version of the signal. The conversion causes no apparent lag or unnecessary quality loss. In fact I am able to use AI upscaling on an Nvidia Shield TV with a 1080p display this way, and there is still a noticeable visual improvement. Whether it would look just as good in native 1080p output mode without the upscaling and downscaling, I can't say.The built-in web interface is very crude, not feature-complete, and the device doesn't actually adhere to the HTTP protocol, which may complicate attempts to integrate it with third party software. I did not try the cloud interface, instead opting to block the matrix from accessing the internet. Now the problems. My first remote control didn't work at all. I reseated the battery half a dozen times and tried it once with the battery flipped over the opposite of the labeled orientation. I even tried a different new battery of the same type. What boggles my mind is that when I looked at the remote's IR LED through a cell phone camera, I could see it clearly lighting up when I pressed buttons. Yet the HDMI matrix did not respond to it. No response through the built-in IR receiver and no response through the external plug-in IR receiver. By the way, here's a tip: Don't try to peel off the protective plastic layer from the IR receiver window on the matrix box. I just ended up accidentally unseating the hard plastic window and pushing it inside the unit. (the remote still didn't work with this window out of the way)So I contacted gofanco support and with a little back and forth we concluded that the remote was likely defective. They mailed me a new remote, which worked. Then for giggles I tried the new remote's battery in the old remote. Suddenly the old remote worked just like the new one. I swapped the batteries between remotes several times and both remotes worked every time without a hitch. But my third-party battery with equally good voltage still did not work in these remotes. What the heck?!Unfortunately that wasn't the end of the problems. The day the replacement remote arrived, I discovered that output 2 on the matrix didn't work at all. Gofanco support wanted me to try uploading the latest firmware onto the matrix. The exact same firmware version it had shipped with. I humored them and ordered a USB to serial adapter so I could upload the firmware. Here's another tip: if you get a serial adapter for this HDMI matrix, get one with a male DB9 connector (exposed pins) and male screws to the sides of the connector. Some USB to serial adapters have female DB9 connectors and/or female screw holes on the sides. Anyway, the firmware upload did not solve anything, so Gofanco support instructed me to return the defective HDMI matrix to Amazon. The replacement matrix arrived today and all inputs and outputs work properly. The remote control was no better than the first one. It didn't work until I fiddled with it and reseated the battery way too many times. But once it started working, it stayed working (so far).

Very nice and easy to use
I like this device works well. Easy to use and it is 4K and it can also do 1080p without having to display all at 1080p. I have Sunday ticket and I can watch 3 different games at the same time.

Good value for home use
Easy set-up. Worked as advertised. A bit slow on the switching from one source to another but otherwise does well. Wish it had a “blank” feature to send a blank signal to an output rather than just a mute that sends no signal so that the projector connected would stay dark rather than go bright with a no-signal message.Edit: downgraded my rating after discovering that on a computer input it will not recognize as a hdmi audio capable device and so fails to trigger the audio output from the computer video card.Edit: Upped my review to 4 stars. Tech support was very persistent in getting the product to work in my environment. They did replace the non-working unit with a new one that worked. The willingness of their tech team to help make this product work is a huge plus. Although we ultimately used another product that worked correctly out of the box and offered added features like video blanking and seem less switching, the value for the money of this product makes it worth it if you are willing to take the time to tinker and fine tune so it works well. Especially in a non-production/live environment.
