Works GREAT!
I was pleasantly surprised when I used this on my Australian Shepherd after her first "winter's over bath. These dogs have some seriously thick undercoats and this easily picked up lots and LOTS of loose hair from my dog's undercoat on the first combing with it! It does also help with my very long haired cat which is a blessing since her fur ball problem had become quite nasty and unpleasant for her and for me!I'd recommend this to anyone who has a "shedder" at home. It's a very sturdy rake and is super easy to use and like I said, it works amazingly well, much more so than regular rake "combs." The price of this tool is great. It is far less expensive than what I've seen in the big pet stores and is good high quality.7.12.14 I thought I'd go ahead and add an update here now that our weather has changed from winter to summer. (Spring? What is that? Seems we just go from winter straight into summer these days here in Houston.) I found that this rake works best with a scooping type motion rather than a combing motion. IMHO, it is really best used for animals that lose their "winter fur" as soon as spring or summer comes along. The absolute best time to use this seems to be just after that first bath of summer where your pet has begun to lose its undercoat. And I should note that this definitely works better on animals who have a more coarse coat. If your pet has very fine glossy fur, this may not be the best tool to use. Though I am not a groomer, for those pets with a silky coat, a rake with much finer teeth works better (for me anyway).

This puppy rocks.
I don't often jump in and rate a product with 5 stars an hour after I received it but this rake is absolutely the best undercoat rake I have ever used. My dog is a Border-Aussie and has the thickest mane I have ever seen on a dog. I used a FURminator for 4 years and it works fantastic but you have to do small areas at a time but still wouldn't do anything for his mane because its so long and thick. I pulled this puppy (pun) out and took my dog to the side yard and went to work. After two strokes I was so amazed the amount of undercoat it removed and how efficiently it worked. So well I had to slow down not to pull it out to fast. This thing rocks. I was able to spend 15-20 min to get the amount of fur that would have taken three times as long with the FURminator. And it's NOT sharp. Super quick to swipe backwards on the brush to clean out the teeth. I know it works on a long haired dog and short hair alike because my dogs hair on his middle back is short and worked there too. You would be crazy not to spend the money to try it and fall in love with this rake especially if you have a thick hair dog. Zoom in to see how much fur came off in such a short time. Of all the brushes and rakes I have this one is my new must have where ever we go. You still need a finish brush but of course.

Bummer
In truth, I'm looking for a comb that would have sharp bits inside the curve to help cut through a mat with minimal tugging. These claim to be sharp inside the curve, and yes you can see the 'blade' aspect of it but I'll be honest, it's either too dull or too small. It's great for pulling out dead hair and the like. FAQ claimed it pulls through them if done slowly? False. At least in my case. If you've a temperamental rag doll persian that doesn't seem to have ever been introduced to a comb when he was a baby, combing is hell. He's a sweet guy but combing sends him into a rage. I can comb under his chin, halfway across his back and that's it. The rest, he'd rather see me die for.So, now I'm still in the market for something to cut through the mats without much effort or danger to him. Also, probably going to start investing in some heavy duty gloves. I'd muzzle him but his breathing is already an issue (he even needed surgery to open his nostrils. Vet claimed they were literally the smallest nostrils he's ever seen and he had to consult other out of town vets for the procedure. But hey! Now my little guy can breathe better!)GREAT for dead hair. NOT great for mats unless the mats are already on their way out (new hair pushing them up)

The hair does tend to fly around when brushing so I don't recommend doing it in common areas
This rake gets so much hair off, I can make a new cat everyday! The hair does tend to fly around when brushing so I don't recommend doing it in common areas. My cat likes it so much she has started knocking on the floor, I pick it up and she rubs her head on it.

Best purchase for our puppy to date!
Love this brush! After doing some hard research on what to get for our mix-breed rescue, I settled on an undercoat rake knowing he has a double coat. Our puppy, Butters, LOVES getting brushed with this and just beams! He will paw at me when i stop to pull the hair out of it to let me know, "Hey, Mom, you aren't done yet!" Because he's a mixed breed, I have no clue what is an average amount to shed, and I had been swiffer dusting our wood floors every morning to manage the hair!! Thanks to this brush, it's so much easier to get the hair before it falls all over the house.I've used a couple other regular dog brushes which did little to remove excess, so this is a true keeper. The price compared to others on the market is great, and it works amazingly well!! I found the handle comfortable and didn't think the rake was harsh on Butter's skin. All around, fantastic find! I am very pleased with this purchase! One last note: shipping was crazy fast. Partially because the warehouse is in Wisconsin and I'm one state over (:P.s. Photo attached is after about 5 minutes of brushing - Butters was very pleased and we both couldn't believe the amount of hair just chillin under his topcoat!

Amazing results!
I have a rescue lab mix, with short hair but a thick fine undercoat. She sheds like crazy. I’ve tried a number of different things to try to help with shedding and nothing has worked quite like this. The first time I used it I couldn't believe how much hair it removed. My dog seems to really enjoy being brushed with it, when I get it out she runs to the door ready to go outside and get brushed. I’ve been brushing her with it twice a week and can’t believe how much hair is STILL being brushed out! Of course it can’t remove everything in one use, but I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of hair I vacuum up. Love this brush and so does she! My only complaint is that I didn’t buy it 3 years ago!
