Circuit City Digital TV Converter Box
The picture quality is great. I used HDMI to connect to my TV.. With a amplified antenna received about 60 stations. Was able to delete the ones I don't want i.e. Spanish, shopping channels and such. I did not try the recording feature. Now the ugly... The EPG (electronic program guide) doesn't work 80% of the time. The date and time in the EPG is always way off sometimes by more than a year even thought the display shows it correct. In the setup I even tried using different time settings GMT -7 and also set it manually either worked. In my opinion the code has many bugs. The remote is way too complicated and clunky. Overall for $30 it wasn't a bad deal but the EPG was most important to me. Now I just use an app on my phone for the TV Guide. Since the app works right that tells me that that then need to update the firmware.Update 6/28/19After spending some time with the unit an review up date was due. Use GMT -7 setting for the clock. When I first open the EPG it shows the wrong date (first photo). The fix was to arrow over to the right side then arrow left or right till the date is correct (2nd photo). I also test the record feature and it works fine. I'm changing the review from 3 stars to 4 stars and will order another one for my other TV. Funny, right after I submitted my review (the first one for this product) 11 new reviews many with 5 stars magically appeared. Makes one wonder if they are fake reviews?

Great box with issue
this is the best converter box I have ever used so far. The only problem is after a few days it started putting random information across my screen that would not go away. Sometimes there were only random letters in the information boxes on screen. until that happened the converter box is an excellent box actually improving my signal strength. Also with PBS channels, it picks them up and then would not show the channels at all during the day.It would only show the PBS channels at night .,Then it stopped broadcasting the channels, even though the guide is showing them to be there with great signal strength quality. I am sure it is a defective box that needs a firmware update which I cannot find anywhere. Other than these minor issues ,yet annoying issues, this is a great converter box for over-the-air programming. Customer support is great at refunding my cost no problems for my troubles. Best customer service out there.

Low cost product with great customer service
Decent product, but the usb PVR does not always work. I get a "USB speed too slow" error constantly. I also had to get a replacement because my box would not power up. The customer service was great and my unit was replaced extremely quickly.

Works perfect with our 20yr old hitachi tv
**UPDATE**Buyer BEWAREIt has been a little over 1 yr and we just noticed this product has stopped working. We barely used it, but when it works it works very well. I am saddened that the lifespan and quality of the product is poor. I feel for nearly $30 the product should last a couple years, especially considering what it does. It’s probably been about 5-8 months since we used it, so the product actually lasted less than a year. I would not recommend nor repurchase this item.Original Post:Purchased this to go with my long range antennae, which I purchased nearly two years ago. By itself the antennae would only work in the guest room or the family room and that’s if I used a really long cable to connect the antennae to the tv and then hang the antennae near the front door (for the closes reception). We are at least 30-40 miles from the cities local tv antennae’s. I honestly came across this device by accident while reading other reviews to find a better antennae that did not need to go on my roof. Anyway, we connected this to the long range antennae and moved it to the game room upstairs (this is where I originally wanted the long range antennae) and it works perfectly. The instructions aren’t that great and the channel setup can be a bit aggravating especially if you're using this for an older tv. We used this device with the antennae on a 20yr old 60 inch hitachi tv and it works great. We have not tried the recording feature, but that’s not why I purchased it so not sure how well that works. But if you’ve cut the cable cord and want to see local channels without a monthly expense you should try this device—-if it doesn’t work simply return it within the allotted window and you suffer no monetary loss.

Closed Captioning Quality Very Poor
The closed captioning feature doesn't work properly. Most of the time it doesn't even match up to what they are saying when it does decide to work. It also doesn't put most of the letters in the words. I would appreciate a positive resolution to this issue ASAP! Thank you David Mendenhall.

Don't do it!
This was a lot of frustration and a waste of my time to save $5. Do yourself a favor and just go to Target to get one. This was in a different language from the start and figuring out how to set it to English was 30 minutes in itself. Once I did figure out how to set it to english, I then started in on the process of hooking it up and getting it to scan. I've had a converter box for years - so I'm not new to the process. I hooked it all up properly and set it to auto scan, about 100X, and nothing. It got 0 channels. I tried and tried and tried and tried and tried. 2+ hours later, I took it apart, put it back in the box and put in a return request. I went to Target the next day, got a different one, and it was hooked up in 10 minutes and working great! So, I know it wasn't user error.
