So far so good!
[update 8/27/24] This has been working rock solid - everything I said in my original review is how I left it. No tinkering required except the height (keep reading). I used channel 2 for the chime and it's been a good chime. But yesterday afternoon the chime played and after the chime it said "Channel 2 low battery." I cleaned the solar panel in case there was dirt preventing sun, but this morning it said the same thing. Hopefully after mid-day it will be charged enough to not have the issue anymore. but inside the rubber bottom, ants have gotten into it, so maybe that is causing the issue, or maybe the battery is starting to leak, or an adhesive has melted, and attracted the ants? I'm not sure why ants would want to live in it. It is mounted to a tree, and it's pretty high now, after 2 years of the loblolly pine tree growing, and the pines getting thicker, maybe the sun is having a hard time hitting the panel. I had to put the sensor up high (7ft) and angle it down at the driveway to keep the lawn mower from setting it off over and over again. My Htzsafe sensor/alarm lasted three years, so hopefully this one is not going out after just two years. There was no rust or corrosion that I could see when I sprayed ant killer on it, hopefully not causing corrosion. I have the second sensor charging so it's ready to swap if needed, but I paid $60 for one Htzsafe and $100 for two eMACROS. I like the extra range on the eMACROS (I put it further up the driveway), but not if they die every two years.[original 10/10/22] My main concern is the bottom flap. Will the micro USB port and the toggle switches rust out? We shall see. Several hours in and it's working perfectly!I wish they would add a dial that would let you select one of 20 chimes.Full review:For the past 3 years, we have been using the Htzsafe 1/4 mile driveway alarm. This 1/2 mile range is better. There's a bunch of walls to go through, so I'm sure neither will go the rated distance, but at least these are not arbitrary numbers. This eMACROS is longer range than HtzsafeThe Htzsafe only has a single button on the sensor and was very finicky to set the range (it was also used for on/off and pairing). The toggle on this eMACROS was appealing to me for that reason. But, it's a possible point of failure. So we shall see. However, the Htzsafe had 50, 30 and 25 foot ranges, this eMACROS only has 20 and 30. I'm not quite sure what I had the Htzsafe set to lol it was so finicky, I just know it was not enough out of the box and I had to turn it up, and after several tries it worked better. So far the 30 feet range is working well, and my driveway is about 30 feet wide. The Htzsafe hung directly on the outlet which was perfect for me, but this eMACROS has more options, you can put it anywhere, and it can be battery-powered. So I found a different place to put this eMACROS since it can't hang on the outlet, and it's fine. It does have an eye hole to hang it on a screw so it can be hung, just not directly on the plug. The Htzsafe had more chimes. The receiver only had 2 buttons, but that was okay, following the instruction manual (don't throw that away on something with so few buttons!) I could change the chime, some were longer some were shorter. It appears this eMACROS only has one chime per channel. So if you put 4 sensors on this receiver, you have no choice of chime. The main thing I want to change is how calm it is, and how long it is. Maybe some toggles to change that for a future version?Mounting this thing to a tree was weird, but if you watch the main video (for now - amazon pages change over time) they show rotating the sensor 45 degrees so you can get a screwdriver to the mounting hole. I didn't think to do it that way lol. I'll leave it at that. The Htzsafe was much easier to mount and seemed too loose, yet it never fell/sagged for 3 years. Both work, but if you plan on moving it all over the place and readjusting until you get it within an inch of where you need it, the Htzsafe would be easier in that regard. The Htzsafe also used a standard ball so you could use other mounts. This one looks like it uses a ball, but it's not a ball and socket. it actually has a screw holding the 'ball' on, there is no socket. You can loosen or tighten the screw, but you have the unmount the square plate to get to it. This one basically is made to aim straight ahead, and that's all I need unless it starts having issues.

Know when something is coming
They work great, can be set up to determine different zones. I live on a dead end road and have 3 set up so I know when a car is coming in or going out. Set up was a breeze and have great range, up too 100 feet. Multiple tones to choose from for the alerts, with sensitivity adjustment.

Works perfectly so far/ about 700 ft thru the forest to the house
This may not be the least expensive driveway alert system, but it does work well (so far). I installed it about a month ago. In the woods, where my driveway winds through. The leaves are gone, now that it is winter, so there is sunlight. I charged it up via the USB charger before installing it. That is something that is not clear in the description: You can (and probably should) fully charge it before installing outside. It can be charged like any other electrical device that charges via a USB port. Supposedly, even if there is no sunlight available to charge the battery, it will stay operational for many months if you first charge it via USB.The car detection works fine. A few other things get detected -- such as deer (I assume, since I really can't see what is being detected). But the non-car detections have been few.Set-up is easy. You have about 30 alert sounds to choose from, and you have to pick one. You can scroll through them to hear each one before picking. You can change it to use another sound at any time later. The sounds that are provided are a bit limited, and some people will be dissatisfied with the options. I do not like the "ding-dong" doorbell sound -- because it is too confusing to have to distinguish it from my normal doorbell. So, this option is sort of ridiculous in my opinion, when most doorbells have the "ding-dong" sound. There is no simple "buzzer" sound -- which my previous alert had used. I have no need for the "back door", "side yard", etc. pronouncements (which are only useful if you set up multiple detectors.)I just wanted a sound that I could definitely identify as "car driving up my driveway". There are only a few options available, once the stupid ones are eliminated. I picked the "Adams Family" theme song -- which just plays a few bars. It's fine for my purposes. So, this alert system works well, and I can't yet say how well the solar charging works. My down-grading to 4 stars is only because of the limited number of good sound-alert options available. The ability to send signal through the forest is perfectly good at 700 ft (or, it may be more ft).

Super Value Alert System
Works as advertised and the range claim is valid. My driveway is 1/4 mile long. Many alert tones to choose from. Alert volume adjustable. Loud for old folks is a welcome benefit. My dogs rapidly learned which alert tone went to which gate and they serve as an appreciated backup. You will feel much safer when you have this early warning system.

Wish It Worked As Well As the First One I Bought ...... And It Might
I bought the first generation of this device and it worked beautifully for several years, but the sensor finally gave out. So I ordered a replacement sensor only to find it was a second-generation sensor that did not pair with my 1st gen receiver. So.... I bought a second-generation receiver, paired it with the sensor, and it worked fine for a few months. Now, it won't sound when a vehicle passes it and sounds randomly when nothing is in view. Worse than worthless.UPDATE: After my review, (coincidence? maybe) eMacros reached out to me and offered me a full refund or a replacement sensor. They said they believed the problem seemed from a bad sensor. Since the first one I bought worked so well, I opted for the new sensor. I got it installed a few days ago and so far, so good. We'll see if it goes the distance. I changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars simply because of the effort eMacros made on their own to try to resolve this issue.
