I needed to check rotation speeds of turntables. This worked like a charm. Place the marker on the turntable or record and read the rotation speed. That's all there is to it.

The tachometer works well, but you must use the reflective strips on the target to get a stable reading. I was using it to measure the rpm of my computer fans. The readings were all over the map until I applied a small strip to the center of the fan. Readings were accurate and stable after that. Be sure to apply a small strip off-center on the hub - not on the blade, or it will unbalance the fan and cause vibration. Overall, the unit helped me optimize my computer fans. The test button should be on the side, not on the front where your hand blocks the display when testing. OK, but not great....

Not me, but this tachometer. I was doing a project where I needed to measure DC brush motor speed up to 100K RPM using a non-optical technique, so i used this as a reference. It was dead-nuts accurate, easy to use, and rugged (i dropped it a few times.) It worked perfectly. It's not very expensive, it's accurate, and it works.

Worked great for a lawnmower idle and running speed adjustment. Just have to hold it at a very specific angle so laser bounces at the right angle back. Basically as close to 90degrees as you can get. Especially challenging on a small shaft. But it did work great for my needs.

I like it. It becomes handy when you are building your own eBike and needed to know the speed of your motor hub without the load. Keep in mind that the load speed will be different from the speed without the load.

Bought to use setting idle speeds on garden equipment. Unfortunately, device requires sticking a piece of reflective tape to the item being tested and then scanning with the battery operated tool. As fortune would have it, all my lawn tools have housings around the only visible "spinning" part of the engine, thus no test can be run. I missed the 30 day return window thus the item will probably never be use . Too bad!

A little bit tricky to use especially to measure lower rpms. Manual suggests ways to do this. Has a limited supply of reflective tape, but from my testing any reflective take works.

Needed this because I had to play musical chairs with a motor for a drill press, and jointer. I needed to know each motors RPM one of which is at least 70 years old. Because of this meter I was able to get the right pully size and got within 35 rpms of my goal for my jointer.
