A Nifty Gagdet if you can Tolerate Visibility
Dear Amazon Shopper,This marvelous piece of widgetry is great at tracking your movements as well as motivating you to move in the first place. Like everything, it has its flaws and foibles, but if you treat it, and yourself, well, you'll be losing weight in no time. The Pros:1 - It keeps track of numerous variables. Personally, when it comes to losing weight, I love looking at numbers and setting milestones. The feeling of taking measurable strides toward my weight-loss goals is very motivating and having my steps, calories burned, and overall level of activity automatically measured helps me to achieve those goals. By manually logging your calorie intake (there's a comprehensive list of foods, and space for you to add new foods) you can keep track of what you take in and what you burn, allowing you to reasonably estimate how long it will take you to burn off the desired amount of fat (3500 calories of deficit to one pound of fat). You can also log your weight, which I recommend doing at the same time every day in order to ensure stable measurement.2 - It's reasonably accurate. This device is highly accurate at determining whether or not to register your movements as steps and utilizes more than just distance traveled and rate of movement to determine calories burned. Simply waving your arms around will not cause the device to add steps, but it will up your burn rate (as waving your arms takes more energy than doing nothing). Also, the Fitbit successfully avoids logging steps while the user is driving. A series of push-ups and crunches will accurately log your calories in the red and if you feel the device has not yielded a correct accounting of your calories burned, you can log your activities manually.3 - It doubles as a watch. While, like me, you may have many more stylish, more effective timepieces, this device comes with a wristband into which the device is designed to slot. Slotting the not-unstylish Fitbit into this very comfortable wristband is the safest, most-effective way to store the device on your person (more on that later) and allows you to do so without depriving you of the ability to tell the time (it is recommended you place the device in the wristband on the wrist of your non-dominant hand.4 - Set-up is nominal. Plug the Fitbit into your computer via the provided USB base station, complete your free registration on the website, and you're done. Nothing pesky to install, no hassle. The Fitbit wirelessly uploads data to your computer via the base station at 15-minute intervals when possible, but can store detailed data for up to 7 days without dumping it onto your PC.5 - It loves you. As you reach different milestones, the device will e-mail you and update your account with motivating badges (10k steps in a day, 10 floors climbed, etc) and often has a positive message to convey when you get moving after a long period of being stationary (i.e. "I love you <USER>"), which was a cute touch. The Cons:1 - The device's durability is questionable. While it's a neat tool, it appears that form was chosen over function at at least one point during the design process. The Fitbit feels very delicate (as other reviewers have pointed out) and I use it with the provided wristband as often as possible. When I need to conceal it, I will slide it over the interior pocket of a jacket. I would not leave it loose in a purse or briefcase, nor would I cram it into a pocket and expect it to survive for very long. Due to this issue, expect the device to be visible to others the majority of time it is in use.2 - Premium content. In order to get the most detail from your device, you'll have to fork over extra $. After paying 80 bucks for this tiny, plastic-sheathed 3d-accelerometer (not that I'm suggesting it's a bad value), I would expect to be provided as much bang for my dollar as possible. The manufacturer, however, has chosen to restrict what your $80 will buy you, so keep that in mind. I can't evaluate the premium content as I have thus far chosen not to pay the subscription fee. The device is reasonably useful without it.3 - It wont lift you off the couch or scold you for eating junk food. You'll need discipline and dedication to get results. This can help you desire results, and track results, but it's up to you to make results. The bottom-line is, if you're committed to exercising, this will help keep you motivated and help you monitor a vast array of useful statistics over time. It's not the most durable widget ever invented, and you'll probably be displaying it most of the time if you want to keep it intact, but with discipline and dedication, this device will help keep peoples' eyes on your figure.

Love this little device!!!!!
I bought the Fitbit Ultra as a birthday present for my husband (and of course me since my birthday is two weeks after his) in December 2011. We LOVE our Fitbits! We use the LoseIt! apps on our smartphones and the Loseit! website and this little device communicates nicely with our favorite app. Also, in addition to what everyone else has told you Fitbit has the ability to send and receive data from certain apps you may or may not be using to track your meals and activity virtually. You can find a list of them on their website, but we prefer Loseit! We also bought a Withings scale and that is also compatiable with Loseit! and Fitbit! It is great, we can weigh ourselves, put our food entries in and let Fitbit track our activity and it all gets done either automatically via a wireless transmission (that would be Fitbit and the scale) or one time entry into an app or website (that is logging food into Loseit!) and each application updates the other with no action from you!The days of multiple site entries, trying to remember what the scale said to when I could get to my smartphone app or website, etc are over. The scale can track up to 8 people on the same account and Fitbit is a gem at quickly picking up and transmitting your data to and from these other compatiable apps when you are near the Fitbit receiver. Loseit! is also fantastic at transmitting and receiving to and from Fitbit and Withings that everything is so easy to monitor. I only go to Fitbit's site/app to monitor my sleep and use Loseit!'s app/website for everything else. Now something I had to learn, if you choose to do it this way Loseit! uses an equation that accounts for a certain level of activity for "normal" every day activities when determining calorie intake and burn. Fitbit does not use this equation and tracks each of you movements (we have never had issues with stair counting if you're wondering, both of ours work perfectly). Fitbit and Loseit! do recognize this and once you have enough activity on the Fitbit to match the activity Loseit calculates for you then a Fitbit adjustment will occur on the Loseit! site. I actually find I work hard to get to that activity level so I get my adjustment on Loseit! My husband and I have made a fun little competition of seeing each other's Loseit! and Fitbit accounts and seeing who can get the bigger Fitbit adjustment. My only downside is the wristband that comes with the Fitbit. I love tracking my sleep activity and seeing my sleep patterns to watch for trends. We don't have our Fitbit for 30 days and already the velcro is peeling from the fabric and it is falling apart. The forum is the best at Fitbit too. I got the best trick on that site that both of us use each and every day! We use a hairband (a thin one - not a big or thick band) that we have slipped into the Fitbit. We than loop it through a belt loop and slide the Fitbit with the clip through the loop and onto our belts, waistband, pockets. We also use the hairband over the wristband to prevent the Fitbit from falling off while we sleep (some users have had this issue). But I think if you have a very large wrist this could be uncomfortable for some. Neither my husband nor I find it uncomfortable and we have average sized wrists for our genders. We have not had any issues with it tracking stairs or when we use the elliptical machine at the gym and we both wear it on our waistbands. I love their website and its compatiability with other very useful sites. The Fitbit is small and I often forget it is there (although the hairband has most likely saved it from falling off in restrooms, etc from my finer material work pants/skirts since it acts like a "safety chain" to my pants). We like seeing our sleep patterns and the compatiability with other apps/websites have made tracking our weight, diet and activity a dream! We actually love the ease of the Fitbit and no one even notices we are wearing them! I even had it on my undergarments under some formal wear at a New Year's celebration and you could not tell (btw, a cotton 2-ply headband with a small hole cut into it that you slide your Fitbit into than slide over your thigh ladies will not hurt its tracking ability should you find yourself it this situation, just try it first at home, because you don't want to be dancing and find your Fitbit on the dance floor crushed! This way you can make adjustments to the headband to fit your body). The accuracy, portability, ease of setup and use, and most of all compatiabiltiy with other very useful apps/websites have made this purchase worth every penny we spent! We actually have stuck to being active people that eat more healthy because of Fitbit and the ease in which it has fit into our busy lives without a lot of hassle for tracking everything we do! I would not trade this device in for anything other than a more updated version of itself!

Just loved this product!
One of the best fitness gadget I've had till now. I did a lot of research before buying it and this one was perfect for me (even with all the cons below). I used it for 3 months before writing this reviewPros:1. size, built, weight, looks2. Functionality - although I didn't use the sleep tracker much, all the other features were kind of perfect for me3. Good source of motivation with the tracking ability and putting it automatically on the website2. Ease of use - auto sync, shape and design made it much easy to useCons:1. small so it is easy to loose, but fortunately I was able to find it every time :)2. Not that accurate, but I was fine with approximations. Not sure how it compared with the others3. Cost - It's not that costly related to other products in same category, but overall, it's quite costly for a pedometer!4. Didn't find the sleep tracking feature that useful for me

Programma scadente

Good concept - weak design
Does the job of tracking activity and sleep well - however the construction is quite weak. My wife and I have used the Ultras for a few months and both of us have had to replace them. I've swapped to the One which seems to be more robust.

Balance energético a control!
