My grandmother had one that was perfect for mixing butter with flour as well as mashing soft fruits and vegetables. This one mashes the soft things, but I’m hesitant to use it for other things. It feels a bit too “light” and I’m afraid it will break or bend. It won’t take very long before someone puts it in the dishwasher and it will discolor and look ugly. I also have RSVP’s blending fork, which is stainless steel. If they made this in stainless steel, it would be perfect for mashing as well as blending. This will work for me in the short term, but I’ll keep looking for the perfect mashing fork.

This is one your kids will fight over when you pick it.
This is the perfect fork for blending butter or shortening into pastry. I'm sure I'll find tons of other uses. Excellent quality. Good size. I expect this will last generations.

It's made of flimsy plastic
This thing bent when I took it out of the package. It is useless, and I threw it away.

feels like 11 cents.
I don't know what "Cast Aluminum" is. this fork feels "plastic-y" ...... the size is good but there's no bend to it. my cooking forks keep disappearing after my weekend cookouts. alas, in the trash? I don't know. I hand wash and it's fine. I won't use it on anything sturdy cuz i'm afraid that it will break. maybe pasta noodles.

This is the mashing/mixing fork to get!
I searched for years for this fork and finally found it! The tines are triangular so the back of the fork makes cutting in butter, mashing avocado, etc easy and the extra width makes stirring a breeze. This is the mashing/mixing fork to get!

Cast Aluminum is Perfect!
Don't let the reviews fool you. Yes, it is very light, unbendable and unbreakable. Just don't put it in the dishwasher!

Great for mixing pastry
Great for mixing pastry , breaking up ground beef in the skillet, and all kinds of mixing. Triangular tines are sharp.
