General Chemistry

Dr. Gallogly (One of the authors of this book) is a brilliant man, I'm currently taking his introductory chemistry class and can say he is one of the clearest teachers I have ever had, his book General Chemistry reflects this. He has rearranged several chapters in order to ensure every reader/student understands the basic fundamental ideas behind each concept. In addition the book follows all IUPAC terminology, this is something that a lot of publishers don't do and can cause confusion amongst students, the books dedication to follow IUPAC standards might not seem much to most, but as a student I'm grateful to know that when I venture deeper into the world of chemistry, I'll be well prepared thanks to General Chemistry and Dr. Gallogly.

While the text of this book may be at an appropriate level for other students, I found that this book does not go in depth enough to match the content of my coursework. Granted, that may be the fault of the department when selecting which textbook is used to accompany the course.Independent of that, this is a great resource for learning the more basic aspects of chemistry. There are many diagrams and images that are meant to aid in understanding the text, as well as many problems at the end of each chapter.

I got it used and The book is pretty rough shape but works fine

Came with wrappings and everything but a good sized dent was on the bottom half of the book, which crinkled the pages a bit, so even if it was brand new I can't say it's perfect. Other than that the condition was fine but I would only give it a 6 out of 10.

My daughter just started her freshman year at Cornell. Book arrived in awesome condition and the rental program is super user friendly with a sustantial cost savings. Highly recommended and definitely plan on using again for her.

The best general chemistry book out there. It has great problems and in text examples. I went through many gen chem books and this one is the best out there.

Good textbook. Explain basic concepts well. Could have more problems though.
