Great Product
We now own two of these, purchased about 2 years apart. So, now we have a matched set.The shield is well made and retains its finish after being outside in the sun, rain and snow for 2 years. The gauge of the metal is not super thick, so if it falls down on a leaf tip, the tip will bend. But I think it is adequate for what it is and with adequate care, it should last for a very long time. We live in a VERY windy area and we have had deer knock the feeder off the hook and then strong wind blow the shield off the shepherd hook. I guess that is the price we pay, occasionally, to feed the birds and enjoy their presence.I would buy this item again... and have!

works great
this is a really pretty rain shield for my birdfeeder. other comments mentioned it rusting, so before i put it up i followed their advice and sprayed it 3 times with a clear coat. so far so good. overall i am pleased with the product. it is well made. i just think that for the price, the product should come already sprayed with a clear coat. but it is effective at keeping the rain off of the feeder. i mistakenly said in an earlier review that the plug at the top fills with water. but that is not the case. i had it mixed up with a different product and i apologize for this. this is a great rain shield.

Nice idea, good product.
So far, so good. I have read where some others have said theirs rusted. I have only had mine a week or so,, so I cannot speak to that, but I can say that it looks very attractive over the birdfeeder. It also seems to be keeping squirrels off the feeder as I have not seen a single squirrel on the feeder in the time that I have had it. I can tell that something that was not a bird has tried to get onto the feeder with the cover on, because I came out the other day and the leaf cover was lopsided. I came out the next day and it was back on even. This indicates to me that something attempted to sit on top of it and it tilted, most likely dumping off the offending the critter on the ground. The leaf cover is designed so that it can tilt in different directions if something sits on it.Thursday, June 28th, 2018 update: I've had this copper weather shield now for about a year. It has held up beautifully and still looks great. However, it turns out that squirrels are clever creatures. The top no longer deters the most ambitious squirrels, but, still looks great, helps protect the feeder, and I would definitely purchase again.

Worth the extra care to maintain it
This is a thin copper cover for a feeder. The leaf pattern is really beautiful. It keeps the feeder from getting wet in the rain and eliminates the squirrels from coming down off the roof. I am very pleased with how it looks and works. The only difficulty is the thin copper. On very windy days, I now bring the cover inside because I know it bends when it blows off the hook and falls on the deck! It is easy to bend back, but I’m sure you can’t straight it lots of times before it’s going to break. For me, the extra care of bringing it inside is worth it because this cover is elegant and useful.

Shakes VIOLENTLY in the wind (UPDATE: it can be restrained with modification)
The media could not be loaded. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This bird feeder weather shield is very nice looking and appears to provide shade and cover from the elements for your bird feeder. Unfortunately, I thought it was so nice upon first arrival that I already ordered a second one before getting a chance to experience it in bad weather. This morning I come outside and see that our hummingbird feeder is broken on the ground, along with the weather shield also on the ground. For the most part, the weather shield survived the fall, but was dented in the hook and a dent where the nail was holding the hook in place. The layer of transparent plastic/paint had also peeled off a little where the dent was. I was able to hammer the hook and dent out, but unfortunately had to throw my hummingbird feeder out which broke with a hole (despite being plastic). I pinched the weather shield hook with some pliers to close the gap so that it won't fall off again and hung it back up. Even with no feeder hanging from it, it still shook VIOLENTLY in the wind so I had to take it down again before it swings off and hits someone. I think I will only use this when it is not windy. It is unfortunate because I have only had this outside for about a week and was hoping to use it as a permanent solution for keeping the feeders safe from the elements. In summary, its a nice shield to use to provide shade in the summer, but NOT RECOMMENDED when it is windy.UPDATE: I have now tried chaining the shield snuggly to the post. I used a long chain that is meant to hold bird feeder accessories. I inserted the chain hook through the hole that holds the shield to the shield hook and wrapped it around the post until it was snug. I also made sure to pinch with pliers the shield hook closed (no gap in the hook) so that it doesn't slide off while hanging on the feeder. With the chain snug on it and shield hook closed, it seems to not be as shakey anymore in the wind. I also hung up the second shield the same way, but I had to spend time scraping the clear paint off it first that was already peeling when I received it. Prior to hanging, I spray painted them both with clear weather proof paint. Much better. Atleast now it can withstand normal winds. It seems to be a good product now after the modifications. It provides shade, shelter from rain, and shelter from predators. I am docking off one star because of the paint coating peeling issue and the shakey in the wind issue before modification.

Very attractive + does the job
Protects the bird feeder from rain and therefore helps to keep the birdseed dry. Nice large size, very attractive and easy to set up. So far it also seems to discourage the squirrels from getting on the feeder.

Returned due to extensive damage. Second one is great!
Product is beautiful but I had to return the first one due to the fact it that was bent on all sides of the cover. No packaging whatsoever in an oversized box! Not sure who packaged it. In an Amazon box. Ordered a second one and it is excellent. Packaged well. Looks great! No bends. It is copper and is fragile though, but hangs nicely and the birds don’t seem to be doing any damage.

One of a Kind & Worth the Price!
This is one of the most underrated products I’ve bought. It is a gorgeous copper color and is really durable. Everyone who sees my bird feeders with this shade asks me where I got it. I’m shocked there aren’t more like it on the market. Worth every penny. Just bought my second one. They stay beautiful for about 4 years. After that, mine rusted on top. I think that’s some good value honestly.

Happy with this purchase
I like that it is made of metal so it will tolerate the weather and provide shade in the summer. The shell sits on top of the hook ‘cup’ so that it gets blown out of position and hangs crookedly off to the side by times...maybe a glue gun will fix that. All in all, I am happy with this purchase. I would even like a bigger one but have not seen any larger.

Not actually made of copper and they rust.... disappointed 😞
Actually fairly disappointed in these as they are advertised as being copper however after only 3 months of being outside they rust which means they are not copper but steel with a copper effect coating
