PRO ART Metal & Porcelain Butcher Tray Palette, Large, 13-inch x 17-inch, White

I wanted a nice big tray for my watercolor palette. This is it. I don't care if it chips and it certainly won't break. It was the best deal for the money and I'm happy.

I am an artist/Architect. I use the trays for watercolor and acrylic illustrations. I have a half dozen such trays and was seeking some a little larger so I ordered the two Pro Art 13-Inch by 17-Inch Butcher Trays.I returned the two Pro Art 13-Inch by 17-Inch Butcher Trays for the following reasons:On my previous steel butcher trays, purchased from art supply stores, the trays were coated with a white casing of sleek, Old World porcelain/enamel. The perimeters/edges were carefully turned/curled inward, and under, and likewise had a coating of thick dark blue porcelain/enamel on the turned edges. The porcelain was solid and with consistently even coatings.On the two trays I received (Pro Art 13-Inch by 17-Inch Butcher Trays) the edges were largely chipped with poorly, inconsistently applied porcelain/enamel. The perimeters/edges were not turned in/under to make a curled edge, but worst of all, those edges were razor sharp and I cut my hands merely taking them out of the packing.On occasion my 5 year old Grandchild will sit next to me and paint along with me on her own drawings, but there is no way I would let her do so with these trays and no way I would use them myself. They are inferior products and a danger to those who use them.Later the same day I returned them, I asked my regular art material supplier to order some from his source. They were the same price and size. I received them in good order and they are also 13" x 17" and a well covered with a thick protective coating of porcelain/enamel.I gave the Pro Art 13-Inch by 17-Inch Butcher Trays one star only because that is the lowest rating available.It is possible that this shipment was an anomaly, and if they were an accidental few which were poorly made, I cannot say, I can only reply to what I received.

A good, standard paint palette/butcher's tray product. A couple of tiny spots not fully coated, but on the unimportant side/surface. Arrived well packed and on time.

If you like to paint a watercolor with only a few colors, this is the perfect butcher tray. Easy clean up, no staining, great price!

Arrived on-time, well packaged, and is the perfect size for my needs.

Great for paint

I purchased this 11x17” butcher tray as a large mixing palette for watercolors. Disappointed for two reasons. 1) it arrived with a chip on the top where I would mix paints. This chip will eventually rust making the tray unusable for my purposes. 2) the bottom of the tray is not flat. It has a raised surface in the center about 2” from the edge all around. This means anything wet pools around the edges of the tray. Again, not suitable for my purpose. The description says it is “perfect for oils and acrylics and watercolors” but anyone who uses water based paints should steer clear of this. I will also mention it is poorly made but I was willing to forgive that provided it did lived up to its own description.

Washed off easily. White background perfect.
