Tony Grey Bass Academy Paperback – September 1, 2013

Firstly, I have been playing bass for many years and just recently came across Tony’s videos on YouTube. I am AMAZED at this young man’s skills and he really has the “gift” to teach and communicate.- I hope if you’re serious about taking your Bass playing and theory to the next level (we’ll, up quite a few levels) that you will check him out on YouTube and buy this book, I have many Bass books but this really does help and tops them all. And oh yea - I can’t believe how fast the shipping was!Keep up the Amazing work Tony!

The title does not overstate the potential value of this book/DVD -- for SOME players! If you're mentally prepared to focus on being a better player, it's like a graduate course. If you've watched Tony Grey's YouTube videos, you have a sense of his seriousness, his dedication to the bass, his sense of discipline, and his belief in practice as meditation. In this book, he seems to assume that you possess the same qualities. If you are indeed serious and disciplined, buy this bass academy without hesitation; the course is comprehensive and DVD alone is worth twice the price. However, if you're a dabbler, not prepared for a serious and challenging dive into technique and theory, you might want to try another method that isn't as likely to gather dust on your bookshelf. Tony wants you to get better and gives you all the tools you need to achieve that goal. The rest will be up to you.

I brought this book Years ago, I had it in my Library ,and just the other day i decided to browse through it. Man why did i wait so long? It has everything you need to learning the notes, exercises to warm up the fingers. and a dvd .He says don't go forward until you learn the previous lesson. Very well explained. Be patient you'll catch on. I recommend it

Little over my head, but I'll get there

BEST book ever for BASS! I originally purchased ALL THE GOOD STUFF. However, it was worthless, the audio and video he talks about does not exist. So, for less money I purchased TONY GRAY and was totally blown away! This book is the Holy Grail of bass instruction books with an awesome DVD.

I can only agree with all the other reviewers. This book is simply perfect and it is densely packed with useful information.It is efficient, well-structured, thorough, concise and it puts together all the things that you need for your musical journey on bass. You're in good hands - it gives you a key to a balanced learning system and points you in the right direction.I must mention that it is refreshing to have a material that is 100 percently educational - Tony's humble dedication and hard work made this book an educational masterpiece. If you take this book as seriously as Tony, your development curve will go steep upward!

Buy this book (w/companion dvd) and you will learn music theory and how to apply it to playing the bass guitar. Something to learn at any skill level. Tony is an excellent teacher and I love his playing style and sound.

This book has everything in it: inspiration, motivation, warmth and personal presence by the author, and the very efficient, clear way of teaching in form of written word and videolessons to support.Perfect for any style but especially jazz- and improvisation-oriented player. Personnally, the non-tablature music notation is a big plus:)
