This book was sent to a young member of my church who is incarcerated. I spoke to him after he read this book and has a whole new outlook on who he is and why he is on earth. He is now aware that changing his life won't make him less popular but a more sought after young man. The most important thing he seemed to get from the book was his importance in the lives of others. He said. "I just realized that everything I say and do effects some body else in some way". If you met him before he read this book you would know what huge revelation he has had. I recommend highly recommend this book.

I am a huge fan of TD Jakes. I purchased this book to pass around to the men in my family. This is a book that you give to someone who is open to being taught something new. Since the men in my family are at different places in their lives, they weren't very interested in the message the book was sending. I loved it so I keep it close when I am in a place of trying to evaluate the deeds of men as they affect as a woman. It is a good read for women, it's very reassuring.

Jakes makes assumptions re: the self perpetuating problems of the African American man raised by single mothers and indifferent fathers that may offend some. Who cares. Raising young men without biological fathers is the leading cause of a numbers of afflictions in our Country. There is much truth in the book and the problem so prevalent that it needs to be not only heard, but learned, kept, and done by all of society.
