La Boheme: Libretto

Came fast. Perfect condition. I ordered this to help me write subtitles on the video of a local production I was placing on YouTube. FYI - this is an edition published in 1954 which aims to rhymn the English translation, taking some liberties with a strict translation. Act 2 from Quand m'en vo' - And then I savor keenly, That intense desire, Which is burning in their glances, And proudly show my ravishing attire, With enchanting appeal! And when the wave of fervent longing, Invites romances,

I bought this for two reasons. First, this is my favorite opera. Second, I am studying Italian and wanted to use this to help in learning the translation. The English translation is pretty bad. Even the few words I know I can see don't match up. At least I have the Italian so I can understand what is being sung as I listen and read along.

It was bought as a gift for my 13 year old granddaughter who will be going to the opera with us in January. Hopefully she will read it and understand the story before the opera.

I ordered this item as I had recently purchased the RCA Living Stereo 60 CD collection which includes this opera but no libretto.The booklet is 70 pages long with a synopsis of the plot and a list of characters. 66 pages are given over setting out the text in a clear medium sized font in both Italian and English.The only criticism I have (but it is an important one) is the layout of the Italian and English.Opening the booklet and looking at a double page the left hand page has 2 columns of the Italian text and the right hand column has 2 columns of the English text. It would be much easier to follow if the left hand page had one column of Italian and then one column of the corresponding English and then the right hand page did the same.Given the price of £3.60 I am not sure that I have much right to complain.

Completely serves the purpose, faithful translation.
