The Best of the Best
Incredible! Over the past 20+ years I've read every text on soccer nutrition that I could get my hands on. There are some very good texts out there however I rank the Food Guide for Soccer as the best and most powerful I've ever read. It's an easy read, tells players what to eat and when to eat it and why, and is, in my opinion, among the best of the best books on soccer nutrition.As a coach and advisor and also the parent of a high level player (who I do not coach) I purchased my first of many copies early in 2010 and have since bought and given dozens of copies and have recommended it countless times. The reactions from those that read it are nearly identical. WOW!This easy to read book got it's start in Women's Professional Soccer and has become a trusted nutrition guide used by male and female players amateur and professional alike, at every age and every level. If you're a player at any level, a coach, or the parent of a youth soccer athlete, buy this book. Everything you need to raise your play or your team another level is here and I'm confident it's a purchase you'll never regret. When you read it you'll understand why! The information is useful, easy to find, and easy to understand. Nancy Clark and Gloria Averbuch are two highly respected names in sports nutrition circles and soccer is where they make their home! This isn't a generic text with the word soccer inserted in place of other sports. This was written for our game by those that know our game! That's as good as it gets! I'm not in the habit of writing reviews but this book has earned my time!

This was good, but I was hoping for some plans for ...
This was good, but I was hoping for some plans for tournaments. Most sports eating guides seemed to be focused on one game at a time scenarios. Playing three or fours games in a day can present a different challenge.

Great book
Great book with some good recipes and tips from the (female) pros! It really gives you a good heads up on what to eat and what not. It really helped me putting a healthy lifestyle together, for a daily basis, without having to starve myself and lose energy. If you are a soccer player who wants to become a pro, this is your first step towards it.

Great book specific for Soccer Nutrition
This is a great informative book! Soccer players are unique athletes because they require speed, agility, strength, endurance and cognitive quickness. So, there nutritional needs are unique compared to other athletes. I bought it to use for a Soccer Sports Nutrition presentation I was doing for a college team and it was very helpful. This book is perfect for all ages who play soccer. Definitely a valuable buy.

Been waiting for a book like this!
Got this book last week and my daughter still hasn't put it down. She is on a youth soccer team, and we used to have frequent discussions about what foods to eat pre-game and post-game. Now she knows. The bonus is the Women's Professional Soccer connection, which gives it some credibility. This is a great book for rec soccer players as well as competitive players.

Not for boys men.
Outdated, conventional nutritional information. Also should have made clearer that this book was geared more for girls/women than men/boys. Waste of money.
