Dorman 54100 Windshield Washer Reservoir Cap Compatible with Select Models

UPDATE** Ok, I'm leaving my previous review below in case others have similar issues or already read this one. since i hadn't returned it yet and confirmed thru rockauto that this is SUPPOSED to be the right cap, I tried it again, first without putting the o-ring over the opening and just testing the cap fit. Go figure, now it decides it's going to snap shut. Don't know why these things go this way sometimes as I really didn't think I did anything different or forced it any harder. But final word, is now it fits fine. It works. I'm happy. I need a replacement washer reservoir cap for my 1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon. Says this one fits my car. While it was easy enough to get the retaining ring on, the cap itself is a little small for the opening. It doesn't fit. Simple as that. Very annoying. Note - my reservoir tank is original, not an aftermarket. This is also the part listed as correct on rock auto. Anyone else out there that is looking for this part for their Cadillac Fleetwood 94-96, Buick Roadmaster 94-96 or Chevy Caprice 94-96 with the LT-1 engine, this isn't going to work. I'm not sure, but it probably isn't right for the other GM cars that came with this engine - firebird, camaro, corvette.

Although it is a VERY tight fit (so tight it almost seems like the wrong size, too small) when you first open the package and put it on, it's actually a perfect fit, snaps on and off perfectly after a few days. You have to remember the washer fluid container top will stretch and get deformed after time, so putting on a new item such as a cap, its going to fit tight or need a little shoving of the container top into the new cap. But after you put it on and time passes (about a day or 2) its a nice tight seal, you'll hear the "pop" of the cap when you open it and the "click" when closing it. Think of it like a new pair of shoes, right size but tight, you have to break them in, it's the same concept here.

This part was listed as compatible with my car. Meaning they provided this information to Amazon. When I get the thing, it doesn't fit. It would cost as much to send back as my refund would be. They're marking this as fitting cars it does not, and then a week or two later not claiming it fits that car anymore (maybe I didn't read correctly? Except I used the part finder for my car, and another reviewer also complained this part falsely asserted compatibility with models). Maybe this fits your car, but you won't really know it's true until you have it delivered. Since I can't find a cap for my 1996 Toyota Corolla, I'll just use a length of Velcro hook and loop and a piece of heavy plastic. The reservoir doesn't need refilling very often anyways.

This fits my 09 Impala and 98 Grand Am. Others are too small at the neck and cap fitment too small too.

Ordered cap part number based on my vehicle make, year and model. Put a thin coat of silicone grease around inner circumference of cap and on retaining ring to aid installation, since some reviews have noted that it fit too tightly; or would not fit at all, nor install. It snapped on nicely, and fit fine. I am satisfied with the part; but not. . .

My original broke after 25+ Years. For at least two months I kept forgetting to buy one when I went into town. Finally I decided to just order on Amazon and it was cheaper than any other place and I had it in two days. It did fit rather tightly, but I hope it will stretch.

When installing The cab the retaining ring broke in half no big deal I just trimmed it off and the cab snapped on snug it’s not going nowhere Henry likes it he’s the one in the picture and if he likes it I guess it’s OK

I bought this cap for my washer fluid tank on my 01 Chevy Silverado and it fit perfectly I left my cap off one day when I was feeling my washer tank and I could not find this cap at any parts store this was an excellent price and works great
