Excellent company & personal service!
I should have bought the larger box/credit, but was cautious at first. Now I trust iMemories completely! When you call, you get wonderful, individualized, professional service. Here’s what happened. So, I bought this kit & sent in my VHS tapes (9). My sweet dad had walked around with a VHS camcorder on his shoulder a lot during the late 80s/early 90s, but he wasn’t the world’s best at labeling or staying organized! One video that he had labeled as family (and I had sent to iMemories for transfer) wasn’t in my iMemories album (but it was returned to me). So I called to inquire about it. The iMemories rep, Isis, was so great. She was able to tell me that it had not been lost, but it had been unfortunately taped over with copyrighted (tv) footage - the whole tape, 5+ hours. The technician at iMemories who had worked with my videos had made meticulously detailed notes about *each* of my 9 tapes, and several had intermittent tv taping on them. But the tech had carefully reviewed every single minute of each one thoroughly and had extracted every single second of family footage from between the tv tapings. The results are 64 videos that I (and my children) treasure! I’m sad that the one tape was completely lost, but glad to know what happened, and grateful for the detailed review of the material. Thank you, iMemories, for your commitment to detail and quality! ❤️ I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my memories. The return of my videos came with a new, re-usable “shipping kit” and a coupon for repeat customers (thank you!) Photos are next!

iMemories really cares!
I am absolutely thrilled with how videos ranging from 20 to 30 years ago have turned out when digitized! I didn't think I'd get the 'value for money' that they claim, but I did! Thank you iMemories for the beautiful memories. C Capella

Impressive
Takes about 2-3 months from start to finish but the wait was well worth it. Now I can view my VHS videos with the touch of a thumb drive. I'll do this again, for sure. Excellent product and service!!

I wasn't really understanding the process...
This was my first time sending videotapes off for digital conversion. In the past, I was converting old tapes on my own using a analog-to-digital converter. The legacy box approach was easier, at least. The end result was superior, given that my earlier conversions relied on inexpensive equipment. But it was not as simple, or as quick, as I anticipated. Here's how it worked.I began with a handful of old miniDV tapes. I ordered the legacy box on Amazon, and got the blue box with the $60 reimbursement. It took longer than I thought it should, maybe a week. The box was much larger than necessary -- I could have fit hundreds (literally) of miniDV tapes in this box. My first suggestion to the company would be to use different boxes for miniDV tapes than those used for VHS tapes.I sent the tapes in and waited. About ten days later, they sent me an email telling me to set up an account and log in to place my order. I did that, and after about 5 weeks I received an email that my tapes had been converted and the resulting movies were available online. The videos were well-done. Each tape showed up as an album. Each album was divided into clips. I had the habit of using a single tape for multiple occasions so there might be a kid's basketball game, birthday party, family get-together, etc., all on one tape. They had divided these into different videos. But there were a couple clips where they didn't make the logical separation, so one of the clips included two or three events. A minor irritant that I still don't understand.Viewing the clips on the iMemories cloud web viewer was awkward. You cannot expand the view to a full screen, so if you're on a laptop or desktop computer, you get a fairly small screen view.It took me a few tries to figure out how to download the albums/clips but finally I was able to download them to my own USB thumb drive. I recommend that you do this yourself rather than paying the company to do it, at least if you feel comfortable with your technical abilities. It will save you some money, since USB thumb drives are inexpensive. But once downloaded, I had video clips that I can view on my laptop, and from there stream to my big screen TV.Bottom line: You're paying for convenience, and the iMemories Legacy Box approach is less expensive than most of the alternatives out there. I still have a few loose miniDV tapes I need to convert, and I think I'll try some other options - Costco or Walmart, maybe.

Kind of sneaky
It took about 3 months to complete the whole process. When I finally received my link, I logged in and downloaded my videos. After this download I ended my subscription with this cloud thinking that I didn't need it anymore. A few days later I went in to my videos on my phone and found that they had all disappeared when I ended my subscription. It seems that in order to keep your downloaded videos, you need to keep your cloud subscription active at $5.99 a month. This seems odd to me as they are MY family videos. I ended up having to subscribe again, download again, create my own DVD's as hard copies/putting on a USB in order to make sure that when I canceled my subscription this time, I wouldn't lose all my videos.

Money loss
It’s a good idea but overpriced. They then put it on a cloud which you have to continue to pay for. I threw away money
