Great Upgrade, But Beware of Rust
I recently upgraded from a basic budget knife set, and the Chicago Cutlery Malden collection has been a huge step up. Right out of the box, the quality is obvious. The stainless steel knives look sleek and modern, and the wooden block adds a warm, professional touch that fits perfectly with my kitchen décor. It looks clean and stylish without being too flashy. The knives are well-balanced and feel solid in the hand. I really like the contoured handles—they’re comfortable to grip and make prep work feel easier and smoother. So far, they’ve cut everything with ease, from slicing vegetables to trimming meats. I also love the built-in sharpener in the block. It’s such a smart, space-saving feature that helps keep the blades sharp without needing to buy a separate tool. That said, I ran into one big issue. I accidentally left one of the knives in the sink overnight, and by morning it had rusted significantly. Not only did the blade rust, but it also left a large rust stain in my sink. That was really disappointing, especially since I assumed stainless steel would be more resistant. I now make sure to dry each knife immediately after washing and never leave them wet or in the sink.Overall, this set has been a great upgrade in terms of both looks and performance. Just be cautious about keeping them dry—these definitely require some care. Still, for the price and functionality, I’d recommend them if you’re looking for a solid, attractive knife set.

Amazing Knife Set — Sharp, Stylish, and Built to Last!
I am beyond impressed with this knife set! From the moment I opened the box, I could tell this was a high-quality product. The knives are beautifully crafted with a sleek, modern design that looks great on my kitchen counter. But more importantly — they perform exceptionally well. Each knife is razor-sharp right out of the box and slices through meats, veggies, and bread effortlessly. I especially love the chef’s knife — it’s perfectly balanced and feels great in the hand, making prep work a breeze. The handles are ergonomic and comfortable, even during longer cooking sessions. The set includes all the essentials, and the storage block keeps everything organized and within reach. I've noticed no dulling after weeks of daily use, and they're super easy to clean too.If you're looking for a dependable, stylish, and professional-quality knife set without breaking the bank, this is the one. I highly recommend it to home cooks and pros alike. You won’t be disappointed!

They cut stuff. At a very good price.
You know what - for under $30 this is a GREAT set of knives. I read the reviews that the knives stained, or they didn't stay sharp or they were cheap. THEY ARE UNDER $30. THEY ARE NOT FORGED IN THE FIRES OF MORDOR. They are not meant to last 50 years! For thirty bucks, I can buy another set if they get ratty. After 2 months, they are still good.My response to the complaints -1) The knives stained - wash them by hand and dry them and put them away immediately. No stains for me yet.2) They don't stay sharp - mine are still good, but buy a knife sharpener for a couple of bucks and sharpen them. Still better than buying a $300 set of knives.3) They are cheap. You know what, yeah, they are. They don't have superb balance. They aren't Swedish steel. They aren't lovingly cradled in a black pakkawood handle that sings an angelic Hallelujah chorus when stroked. Angles do not weep when these knives are unsheathed. They cut stuff. They work. FOR UNDER $30.

Adequate blade for a small apartment $$ friendly
Adequate for the $$ Not the product Chicago cutlery once was n sad that most American products have gone down hill or to China same thing.

I love the weight of the knives and the size of ...
Out of the box they are what I expected, block was a little lighter then picture, but look of knives and what I expected about the knives where right on. I love the weight of the knives and the size of the handles. I am a man and got these knives because of the weight and feel of them. They are sharp! I have cut pork chops in half, not accross the top but through the side (the thickness) and I actually had fun doing it. Tomatoes are hard to cut without squirting out all the seeds and juice, but with these knives I am humored and amazed that I can cut slivers so thin and the juice and seeds stay in the sliver. I have had so much fun using them I have even bragged about them. I have had them for about 3 weeks now. I follow what I have read about washing and wiping them down after each use and see no rust or dark spots on the blade. I will come back in a few months and offer more of what I experience with them.. Oh!! one thing for sure, be careful I cut my finger with one of them and darn did it hurt. Only got the side of my finger and it did not go to deep, But I have learned to respect the edge of these knives. Add some more a few months.June 26 2015 - It has been 3 months since I purchased them and I gotta say "I still love the knives." I have not noticed any discoloration or rust or even signs of it. I have read where other reviewers have said that theirs have but mine have not. They are still sharp and I use them every day. I have cut my finger twice since the first time so I gotta say again "respect the edge of these knives." :o)January 1 2016 - Still loving the knives. I have no spots on any knife, but I wipe them when I am done using them and have never put them in the dish washer. My wife however has left a few knives on the counter still wet from cutting something and hours later I find it and clean it right away. Still no spots on any of them. Sharpness. we cook about 3 to 5 times a week so the knives are used often. I always use the cooks knife the on laying on the shelf in the picture next to this review. I use my knives on bamboo cutting boards. My cooks knife has never been sharpened or the edge straightened. It is still sharp but not near as sharp as when I first got it and as much as I use it I am surprised I can still cut a tomato with it though not easily. My wife likes the little sharp one and it is like my cooks knife. I will get them sharpened sometime this or next month. I will right back in bit.I still would tell you if this is your price point these knives are awesome. I would buy them again but don't need to... lol
