Didn’t know chunky pencils were available. Perfect for 5yr old artist.

These colored pencils are very perfect for heavy handed coloring. I purchased some Crayolas (not the chunky ones) and every time I had to sharpen them more than a centimeter the leads would break. They would be great for a child's hands and are very durable. The colors are a little lighter than some colored pencils but they're perfect for shading and if you press harder they're bold and bright. I was a little bummed because as I sharpened a couple and leads broke off, but only one little chunk, after sharpening past that chunk they're back to normal. Great value and gift! I love them! Edited 11/3: The couple whose lead broke continued to break the more of the sharpening I did. I read to blast colored pencils with some heat like a blow dryer when you receive them so I'm trying that when I receive my new package. Otherwise these are still great..... comfortable and chunky....it was only a couple of colors with thre lead issue. It's amazing that sing my itty bitty skinny ones is definitely more strain on the hand and wrist.

Our grandson can now "bear down" and color his papers without the pencils needing constant sharpening! What a joy... And the feature to put the pencils back under the elastic and roll them up was just sheer genius! Great idea for all around gift giving !!
