Performance Kayak Hatch Cover (VCP Oval)

Hatches seem harder than VCP hatches and also look much smaller but they do fit just fine on my vintage 2003 rotomolded Avocet. I did a little bit of paddling with them and they had no problems with leakage. The hatches don’t have that same bomber proof seal feeling but I also haven’t battle tested them in surf. One thing I will note is that they have a tab you can string up a retention cord so you hopefully won’t lose the hatches if they do pop off. Hopefully these are a bit more durable than the VCP hatches over time. It is a shocker to find VCP hatches suddenly cracking into puzzle pieces.

Really good engineering on this difficult to mold oval hatch cover. Fit's my Necky Chatham prototype well, there was a little learning curve to get them to snap on my oval hatches. The only other Sea-Lect hatch cover I have experience with was a round one which lived on my rec kayak made by Eddyline. That one came with the kayak which I've had for years and that one Hatch (gotta assume it was made by Sea-Lect) has lasted 4-5 times longer than the rubber only hatches which came with my Chatham. I'm super impressed.

Perfect fit in the two oval hatches on my Impex Assateague. I haven’t had it in the water but fit seems tight. I like that cover are convex to shed water instead of flat like the original covers. Hoping that with different material these won’t dry rot and crumble like the old ones did.

It fix very good and tight. I installed them on my Valley Aquanaut sea kayak. The old ones had rotted out. A bit costly but good quality

This fir the rear hatch of my old Wilderness System kayak perfectly!!! Price was a little much, but better than buying a new boat.

Rather disappointed with this replacement cover. I purchased it to replace a five year old Select Design cover which had been sliced by an unknown perp. The old one had a high gloss finish on both the rubber OD and the plastic cover but the newer replacement has a low gloss satin finish all over. It doesn't match my other two hatches and looks cheap compared to the original. Keeping it only because I need it and I'll put it on the rear hatch so I don't have to look at it👎🏽

Perfect fit for the oval ports on my old Necky Chatham 17, and these appear to provide an airtight seal, unlike the original covers.
