"Malena" Blu-ray / MALENA UNCUT EDITION (LENTICULAR LE)

I think it's my favourite Italian movie I've ever seen and I honestly prefer it to Cinema Paradiso. I'm not gonna review the movie because it's a classic but I'll say this is an unrated version with extra 16 minutes of nudity that I haven't seen before and my oh my... I wish I'd seen it when I was a kid. Any other version sold in Europe is cut which defies the purpose. Also, Imprint releases are amazing. Not only they have new extra features but the artwork is stunning and always different on the rigit slipcover than on the insert cover. 4k transfer is very sharp and clean. The colours in this movie are very warm. The music of Ennio Morricone is beautiful and changes according to the scenes. It can emphasize funny scenes and then it goes back to this romantic nostalgic theme. Absolutely stunning release of an underrated classic and a must-have for Monica Belucci fans.

I love this movie. The storyline, music and portraits are wonderful, but why should it still be edited from its original length and deeper tones is a mystery to me. Since the original length movie is not available, this is what we have to enjoy. Like Cinema Paradiso, you don't know what you are missing with the edited down for US short attention span consumption until you have been fortunate enough to have seen its original intentions. This release is still worth the price of admission, although I feel cheated.

This was a superb, fabulous italian film. One of my favourite with my favourite Actress Monica Belucci. Great story, coming of age, romantic, poignant astute look at war and how it affects all those at home, as well as the soldiers who fight. Essential viewing.

Most of the film was okay. What was disappointing was the lack of acting experience by the main boy actor. The historical side added some depth to the story, saving the lack of plot in parts. The prejudice against the main female character by the women of the town I put down to "small island thinking" because she was a widow who was single. If there had been more of a story instead of the "sex obsession" amongst all of the town's folk, then it would have been more interesting. The main female actress did play her role well. Hence only the three star rating.

This is a wonderful story about a young boy's infatuation for a young woman. The story is based in a Sicilian Village during the 2nd World War. But it is far more than a coming of age story. The film is a beautiful story of life in a small town, the hypocrisy and the prejudices as well as the cruelty and unfairness of life - but all this is done with lovely touches of humour.I was expecting great things from the director of Cinema Paradiso and I was not disappointed, notwithstanding that it is not quite in the same league as Paradiso. It is deliberately a lighter film, partly because of the comic moments but also because it has a happier ending. However, as the story unfolds there is a darker side to the film and this may come as a shock to some. Superb cinematography and there is also a lovely music score by Ennio Morriconi. This film is a little gem.

Watch this , and i mean this uncut vercion you see it all , the complete story , the specials , its all there its not a waste of mony but more an investering the DVD whit Malena The Queen of beauty is so beautiful the story O.K. its narrated a million time BUT not this one , the love story , the second world war , the Italian , its all there , and aboute the specials on DVD 2 you enjoy it , the cast its all top, i say Monica Bellucci is playing Malena The Queen of beauty , don't by the ather one (the cut vercion 90 min you mis a lote , its a same that the cut this film its not what the director have wanted ) by this one (113 min uncut) and you whill remember what i just written
