Not as sturdy
Item is not as sturdy as I like it to be for my two cats. There is no way for them to get up on purchase besides having to jump really high. Everything is to close and stacked on top of each other that it doesn't even allow them to have space when they want to jump on it to use or have a step to help them make transition from going up or down. We had to use an older box from previous cat house to help them use it and they like it better. Not worth the money.

Kitties say it is the Cat's Meow...Owner says No
Update (March 18, 2016)After owning this cat tree for two and a half years, I wanted to give an update, especially since what I feared came to pass--two of the posts broke off. The first one (the lower post/ledge on left) snapped off last summer and the second one (the lower post/ledge on the right) snapped off last week at the bottom of the post. I am unsure how the first one broke but the second broke after my cat jumped on it. It has been loose and I tightened as much as I could, to no avail. It is a cute cat tree but you must decide whether its worth the price if it breaks within three years.Original Review (August 31, 2013)My cats love this cat tree, no buts about it...from them. I have four cat trees of varying sizes and this is one of their favorites. The cat's mom has a different opinion. While it is an attractive tree, the top perches are not stable, especially the tallest one. There is no way to tighten the the screws more than I have. I am not sure if it's the hardware used or the narrow, long column the perch(es) sit upon. I have doubts about the long-term stability of the perches. The only saving grace to why I've kept the tree is it rests in a bay window and thus can't move too far (and the cats can't use it like a jungle gym).It was not difficult to put together. The instructions seemed straight forward and probably it was completed in less than a half and hour using one person. The cat houses are medium sized. They aren't used a lot by my 10-12 lbs cats but every once in a while, I will see one of them passed out in the house. The tree is not covered in carpet, it is more of a fur-like fabric. Also of note, the sisal rope used is narrow, unlike the rope used on other trees (that is thicker). My cats seem to prefer clawing on the thicker rope on my other cat trees, rather than the more narrow rope on this cat tree, but I am willing to concede it may be they can't claw it due to it's residence in the bay window. If I were to buy another cat tree, it would not be this one.

Good buy for my 3 cats
My cats took to this cat tree immediately! My small female, who is in the bottom house in my pics, is only 6 lbs, and this cat tree is the perfect size for her. My 2 boys are bigger, 10-12 lbs, but they still fit into the houses and curl up to sleep comfortably on the podiums. I really like that the sides of the podiums are wood, not cushion. Cushion sides aren't as secure. They can lean into the wood sides without falling off. I do wish the middle platform was wider so they'd have an easier time climbing up, but they manage. All three cats have happily played with the hanging toy, and all 3 have sharpened their nails on the sisal rope. I like that the poles are completely wrapped from top to bottom, but it'll be interesting to see how long the sisal lasts because it's the thin kind. The cat tree was very easy to put together. I did use pliers when I screwed in the 2-sided screws which hold the front 2 podiums, not to turn the screws but to hold them. I screwed in the bottom half of the screw, then held it with the pliers as I screwed the pole onto the top half of the screw, until I had to move the pliers to continue. Then I turned the pole until it tightened completely. At first it didn't feel like it was going to tighten but finally it did. Make sure all the poles are really tight. I've learned you should twist the poles on a cat tree every so often to make sure they stay sturdy. I think I'll buy an anchor strap to anchor the tree to the wall (not included), because all 3 of my cats like to chase each other up and down, and I want to make sure it stays upright if they get too rowdy. All in all, I wanted a medium cat tree that would accommodate 3 grown cats and this fits the bill!

Our cat enjoyed being on it.
Purchased in August 2021. Our cat grew too big for it after around a year and a half. I got a very good deal at that time. I took off the top house and 3 platforms so there is a large platform for him to lay down on. I raised it by placing a small table underneath it. He still gets on it everyday!

cat likes it
we took one of the level/ beds off. it was alittle tight for our cat to get on and up it. once we removed it she had no issues getting on and into the house and on the other level and beds. we just took the flat head bolt that is used to attach the bed to the pole and used it on the stand where the treader is suppose to go. and you could probably get away for having it look the actual amazon picture with all levels if your cat was smaller, skinnier or a kitten but out cat is 12-13lbs and not the most graceful when she jumps on things. there just needs to have little more landing for them to jump onto and it would have been the prefect tree stand. it seems sturdy. would have prefer alittle taller but it works for now. it's probably around 3feet tall.

A must have for cats
My cats just love it. Wish I would have gotten it sooner. Easy to assemble took 15 mins. Very well made. The little toy that is hanging I expected it to come within a day but the cats play with like crazy and it has been weeks and is still attached. Highly recommend to purchase. Much better than the ones I saw at the pet stores for the money

Good Buy
Our cats love it! Was easy enough to assemble, however the top 2 posts were a little difficult to screw on as they have 2-sided screws so when you screw them on, the screws go further in the bottom 2 posts. We managed to get them pretty sturdy though and it's still standing with a one year old cat and new kitten!
