Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo & Conditioner 31.5 oz Duo (Blonde & Silver)

I have used this for about five years as my go-to set to keep the orange to a minimum in my hair. I have medium brown hair that I get highlighted to add blondes and caramels and it ALWAYS gets orange. Although I am not a fan of the smell or the fact it doesn't really moisturize it DOES cancel the oranges so I will continue to use this set. If you have super orange or brassy tones and want to eliminate and make your blondes stand out even more I suggest you cover your hair in a good amount of this shampoo, with hair mostly dry, and put it in a shower cap for an hour. Get in the shower, rinse and condition for 5-10 min. while you do your other things in the shower. It makes all the difference in the world if you give it a long time to soak in on your first use...or if you still want to get rid of a heavy dose of oranges once a week. I have used many- MANY- M A N Y much more expensive products and nothing compares to this. I use this shampoo daily and the conditioner about every other day, sometimes daily it depends how brassy my hair looks, but be warned it really doesn't condition much. My hair gets really knotted too. Because of this I use a conditioner that does an amazing job with this shampoo and cancels out the baby powder cheap perfume odor of the shampoo. The conditioner that works great with this shampoo is a well known brand you can get anywhere which is nice. Since we cant name brands I’ll just say Prince sang a song about them crying. The specific type I am referring to says daily moisturizing on it. I find that with my long, thin, wavy/curly, highlighted hair that gets heat styled with a dryer brush daily and sometimes curled, using that combo works great for me because it moisturizes and doesn't weigh my fine thin hair down. Hope this helps someone like it sure helped me when I discovered it! It took some doing the last 5+ years but it really does work for me.

Happily, this item arrived well-packaged, because the bottles both leaked into the rest of the box and onto other items. This is the second time purchasing these hair products, and the second time the bottles have leaked. I recommend purchasing these items in a separate order from other items so when the bottles leak, your other items won't be ruined.The shampoo and conditioner do make my silver hair sparkle though.

The product is definitely a 5 star product, but like other buyers, the bottles leaked in the packaging. I was hoping that since so many people mentioned this problem that it would have been resolved by now, but nope! They add a strip of tape to hold down the pump, but the cap is what is coming loose and spilling the contents. Another tape around the cap would be helpful. I only lost about 2 ounces of product and there was no other item in the box, thankfully, so I ended up keeping the product. The product itself is awesome if you have naturally blond or highlighted/bleached blond hair. It brightens the blond while reducing the brassy/yellow tones. It smells amazing, too. I only wash my hair twice a week at most, so I do not experience any drying with this product like others have reported.

I was so excited to try this out, but when it arrived, the shampoo bottle had come unscrewed and spilled ALL over the inside of the box - normally, I'd just be sad, wash it off, and go on with my life, but I had three other items shipped in the same box, and they were all completely ruined. Amazon would only accept a return refund, but I wasn't allowed to ship anything that contained open liquids, so no refund on anything for me. After checking the other reviews, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, so I'd skip buying this unless you are ok with potentially receiving only half a bottle of shampoo or conditioner.As to the product itself (because of course I tried it after attempting to clean my house), the shampoo seemed to do fine, the conditioner is NOT the typical consistency of conditioner - it's more like shampoo so I had to use a TON to get through my thick and long hair, the smell is not great, not terrible, think old lady at a hair salon, and next morning, my fingernails are super bright white at the ends and purple underneath.Did it work though? I'd say after letting my hair air-dry overnight, YEAH. My blonde has been lifted considerably, and despite the conditioner leaving my hair quite tangled when it was wet, my hair feels super soft and is a lot easier to manage this morning. I won't be using this every day, because I did notice that even after rinsing the shampoo and conditioner very well (and leaving each in for approximately 3 minutes each), the ends of my hair which are lightest did have a purple tinge when wet. (I don't typically wash my hair every day anyway, so not a problem.)Overall, I wish I could give a split rating, because Amazon shipping FAILED at this one. Like failed HARD. But the product itself was pretty good. Smell wasn't great and it wasn't my favorite type of conditioner, but hey, these got the job done. Definitely won't buy this from Amazon again, might try the shampoo with a different conditioner again, though.

Smells like lavender and it is also great as an over night hair mask it is especially great to use on halloween since it leaves ur hair purple and dark blue when u leave the conditioner in your hair for a few hours or even if u leave it over night then you have a great hair color on ur hair that washes out that also makes ur hair smell great an leaves ur hair feeling soft and supple and tangle free and feeling exceptionally strong an healthy! I love this product, an usually this product is very pricey but I found this great deal an a duo shampoo an conditioner set that also comes with a pump and is also the largest size this company offers an I got it at an amazing price which I wish they offered coupons I can use around my birthday so I can get the amazing price again an I would buy another set or even a few sets to stock up on there shampoo an conditioner sets since there product is sooo amazing! My whole family loves it !!!
