An Important Read
This is one of the books I was assigned to read for my AMI course. I suggest parents interested in Montessori to read it too.

Such a practical explanation of such a rich concept
Montessori is not easily explained as it is so multifaceted. Yet Susan Maycli Stephenson makes the practice of Montessori accessable to both parents and educators.

Must read before having a child
I feel so fortunate to have found this book before having my first child. I can't imagine a book that more efficiently and comprehensively covers everything a new parent should know. I am a busy professional and rarely find time to read outside of the legal profession, therefore it is very important for me to choose wisely in what I read. This book exceeding my highest expectations. If you only read one book before having a child, this should be the one. It will go a long way to help prepare your children to think outside the box, be kind, work hard, enjoy learning, cooperate, excel academically, and develop other skills that will be necessary in the future. I would recommend it to parents, teachers, and others interested in children of all ages, including middle school, high school, and college.

Really nice introduction to Montessori
I’ve become fascinated with Montessori since my son started at a Montessori preschool last August. I didn’t initially know much about the method, but this book has been a great introduction and has helped me understand a lot about my son and his fabulously improved behavior and concentration since starting school.

Essential Parenting Awareness
Child of the World offers very good advice to support the Montessori lessons of practical life activities, sensorial experiences, language, math and geometry, art and music social studies, and the physical and life sciences, from age 3-12. It has been referred to as "a Montessori course in one volume." Susan Stephenson has been teaching in the Montessori field since 1970, has read all of Dr. Montessori's books, and has pulled out the quotes that are most helpful to parents and teachers. This book offers kind guidance along a sure path for development the skills and attributes that will assist a child in preparing for life. It is welcomed into Montessori training centers, schools, and homes worldwide as a clear and concise guide to basic Montessori principles.--Cathryn Kasper, AMI/USA Montessori school consultant

Love the clear explanations Susan gives.
Love the clear explanations Susan gives. I have been a fan for many years...I contributed a quote to be included in the book. I'll repeat it here. The engineer in me was drawn to the fact that Dr. Maria Montessori’s discoveries came through years of scientific observation. If all children, independent of country, ethnicity, or economic background, get their first tooth around 6 months and start to walk around their first birthday, doesn’t it make sense that there would be “universal truths” for children’s cognitive development, too? As a parent, my job is to prepare an environment that will allow my child to develop into the best version of himself.- Jean, a former Intel software engineer

Great book to follow Joyful Child once you have a 3 year old. Not an in depth read, but a great starting point (or second book to follow How to Raise an Amazing Child the Montessori Way). Well written, nice read. Easy. Even your husband will read it!

Simple introduction to values of Montessori style of education
Sometimes it is the simple quiet moments for a child to discover things and not the constant push to educate. This book makes you reflect on showing children the simple basic building blocks that have the potential to create compassionate well adjusted adults who understand their connection to the environment. I will pass this book on to other grandmothers and my adult children so that they can begin to apply some of the principles in this book.I wish she would write more on this topic.

Superb
If, like me, you have a favourable but vague understanding of Maria Montessori`s methods, this book will help you to focus in on the 3-6 and 6-12 age groups and develop a practical understanding and a plan. Susan Stephenson is an expert, who succeeds in offering the parent hope and confidence to create a Montessori environment in the home, and to understand the methods thweir child may be experiencing in a Montessori pre-school. Highly recommended and easy to read.

ouverture sur le monde
Le style littéraire ne m'a pas interpellé. Je n'arrive pas à m'y accrocher alors que je suis une fervente "disciple" de Maria Montessori
