3X Bartoline Creocote Light Brown 4 Litre

The Creocote arrived promptly. I have always used Wickes oil-based Shed Preserver in the past to protect my shed but over the years this has become quite expensive and so I was pleased to find Bartoline Creocote (light brown) available for a much better price. I wanted to continue with an oil-based product as the advice seems to be that this is what you should do. At the time of purchase the information on Amazon wrongly stated that Creocote is a water-based product.The Creocote didn’t need stirring and I poured a useable amount into a small plastic tray. I used some light gardening gloves for protection and applied the Creocote with a 2.5” brush. The Creocote is quite runny so I was careful not to load too much onto the brush. I applied it fairly liberally and it was absorbed well by the wood and going back over areas didn’t cause a problem. It was quite quick to apply and I was pleased that the light brown Creocote was a good match for the acorn brown preserver that I used to buy. It has quite a pungent smell as remarked on by some reviewers but outdoors I did not find this a problem.Bartoline offer surprisingly a water-based ‘white spirit’ cleaner to clean brushes. I found a 750 ml bottle for £2.99 at my local B&M and will see how effective this is.I finished at around 6:00 pm and it rained heavily during the night. The label on the container does not specify a drying time but on inspection this morning all appears to be well and the finish still looks good. The pungent smell is still quite noticeable but no doubt will fade over time.I have awarded four stars rather than five as there hasn’t been time to fully test the product but so far I am very pleased with the price, ease of application and finish and all being well will continue to use this product.

A great colour and prefect for water proofing new fence. Used it before in lockdown and still looks good after 4 years

Easy to use sooks into wood nice colour, value for money.

I’ve been searching for the perfect fence ‘wood’ colour for ages and came across this. Arrived well packaged, smells bad (due to petrol/diesel content) but it goes on like a dream, one coat has perfect coverage. I can’t recommend it enough.

Good product, easy to apply and dries quite quickly. A fair enough price, but even cheaper if bought in sets of 3.

Just a little confused about the colour??Before ordering the three pack, I ordered a single bottle of light brown on recommendation from my fencing guy who said it would dry to a light golden brown, however it turned out much darker than expected. As it gave good coverage and I had already used it I ordered three more to finish the job. This pack seem more like the originally expected light golden brown.I think the first must have been labelled incorrectly.Fortunately the darker part is at the end of my garden with a hedge and climber separating it from the lighter end and I am not that precious to be annoyed!All in all tho great coverage, much easier than the usual fence paint.Quite strong fumes from it, so I have painted it in stages and kept my dog away.It has rained since the job and it still looks great.Yes I would definitely recommend but patch test first for colour correctness!
