Quality is There
When I bought this I thought it was the Melissa and Doug brand... I didn't realize it wasn't until I began to assemble it and saw that it said Amazon Basics on the assembly instructions booklet... You'd really never know the difference between the two.I like how both sides are chalkboards and that both sides can also be used a painting easels too...However I wish there was a better way to hold rolls of painting paper as the top rods really don't have much space to hold a roll of regular paper....The storage areas are not very wide but you can store a decent amount of paint (depending on container)

Great quality at this price
Good deal at around $40. Assembly was a breeze, I didn't need any extra tools. The kids love it. It is the same surface on both sides, allows for chalk and dry erase. I'm only planning on using chalk. Too dark of a surface for dry erase imo. Using basic sidewalk chalk so far, no problems. A damp paper towel cleans the surface easy enough.Still looking for paper rolls that will fit.. haven't looked that hard honestly though. And this does not easily fold up if you are looking to put it away daily. It will fold, but involves unscrewing 4 knobs and removing the lower wooden bar as seen in the pics. Doable, but would be a pain to do constantly.

Two hanging paper rolls 👍/ Not quite big enough for paper roll 👎
I had looked a long time for a painting easel with two paper rolls. I have two children who often like to both work at the same time. This easel was the first I found that fit that bill. I also liked how both sides had the same style tray to hold paints. As I was assembling the easel (online directions, but easy to follow) my daughter suggested that we not have them facing each other and instead put them next to each other again the wall. So I just skipped the steps that attached the hinges of the two larger pieces. (See photo) My kids love painting next to each other and say it makes it easier to share paint. Also I feel this set up takes up less space. We were going to anchor them to the wall, but it doesn’t seem necessary because the are stable just leaning against the walls. I took off one star because the dowel for paper rolls has to be completely unscrewed to replace the roll. In addition it is very tight with a new, full roll of paper. Just a couple of millimeters more distance between the dowel and the back would have made all the difference.

These are pretty great
The tray that holds the crayons, markers, eraser is sturdy and well placed. The chalkboard is easy to use and clean, and once the board gets some use, the erasers easily erase the chalk, and resembles what we all remember as a functioning chalk board. A damp paper towel will restore it all to brand new, if desired. I went ahead and bought two at the same time, and it keeps the little ones busy, inside and out. They will randomly walk over and just start drawing. He spelled his first few letters on this outside, and began jumping up and down with how happy he was with himself, pretty great.

It exceeded our expectations Including the price!
We purchased this for my 2.5 year old daughter while being quarantined along with different markers, crayons, dry erase markers, dot marks, and different kinds of paints so we can keep her busy with different projects throughout the day. This was Amazon Basics’ and compared to the others out there, this was by far my favorite! Also it was the least expensive one too (including the plastic multicolored ones!)It’s extremely well made and it took my husband no time at all to put it together! Thanks so much Amazon Basics for coming out with this product! It really beats paying $80+ for others that are so-so!We would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

Paper roll way too small - otherwise good
Overall it's a nice easel. It's nice for my twins because they both have the exact same thing (no one fighting over the chalkboard vs dry erase.) But there is one major flaw - the rod for the paper roll is WAY too close to the board. you really have to force it in there in the first place, and then you can't roll out the paper. It takes a few minutes of careful shuffling to force it out. As the roll gets used, I imagine it will be easier. But it's a real pain and design flaw. They could easily make the paper holder accommodate a normal sized roll so that you can easily install and actually roll the paper as intended.

This well built, sturdy, and exactly as described.
I bought this 2 weeks ago for my 2 and 4 year old boys. It is 2 sided with chalkboards on both sides and has rollers on both sides to attach paper to so they can paint or color. It has a tray on both sides to hold paint, paintbrushes, chalk, etc. My 4 yr old son and I put this together quickly and they have used it a lot in the past 2 weeks. We purchased one similar to this when my girls were younger and it lasted for years. I highly recommend this. It keeps my boys busy on our back porch while my wife and I enjoy reading and sipping our coffee.

Do not buy.
Don’t buy. Design flaws galore. Have to use a hex screw driver every time you need to take the dowel rod off to put more paper on, and the dowel rod is too close to the board for a paper roll to even fit. Neither side is chalk board or dry erase. Very disappointed. Also does not fold.
