Whirlpool UKI1500AXX Icemaker Kit

I bought a house this past year and the refrigerator was fine other than it didn't have an ice maker. I watched youtube on installing an ice maker and it seemed easy enough. It took me less than an hour from start to finish and a couple of hours later I had ice! The ice is crescent shaped and there is a setting to change the size of the ice. Very easy install, very happy I did it!

This item was listed as a "Whirlpool OEM item". OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer". This item is NOT from Whirpool, nor is it a Whirlpool manufactured item. I don't mind an after market item that may not be the quality of an OEM product, but when I order something that is clearly stated "Whirlpool OEM product", that's what I expect to get. Not an item that is clearly a generic, after market item. It states "generic" on the shipping label and nowhere on the item or in the paperwork does it make any reference to "Whirlpool". The only good thing about this item was the price. I'll be sending it back because I expect to get what is clearly represented, or in this case, misrepresented. This item might be satisfactory for the do-it-yourself community and it is priced reasonably for what it is, but this is how I earn a living and my customers deserve the best, no matter what the cost. If you clearly state in your description that this is a Whirlpool OEM item, then that's what should be delivered. Not a generic substitute.

This ice maker is a lot wider than I expected and the tray is short but holds quite of bit of ice. It works great; however, it did take awhile to make the first couple of batches of ice.

I bought this for my 70+ year-old dad whom lives in another state. He told me the make, model and I tracked this product down. I had the order shipped directly to him and it arrived in a few days and he reported back that it installed like a dream and works great.

Although the diagram makes this look complicated, it was very simple to install and works great. Two settings for size of crescent-shaped ice which I like. The arm that lowers and raises is more cumbersome than my original arm, but works great.

Direct fit, easy install in a refrigerator that never had one from new. Works great. Is somewhat noisy filling and dropping ice, but doesn't miss a beat.
