For recording in lectures, lectures, etc. very well suited. Everything is clear, the voice quality is excellent, the operation of the device relatively simple and the menu well thought out. I have not tried music recordings yet, I can not comment on that. I am very satisfied so far.

It took a minute to figure out how it worked for best use.

I initially intended to use this device to record band practice. Unfortunately the microphone is so sensitive that anything louder than spoken word seems to pop the levels. It does work well as a voice recorder and as an mp3 player. Unfortunately, the microphone is so sensitive that I when I record my notes I can hear the Amish down the road having conversations (lots of thees and thous in the back ground). One even said "Get out, he will kill us all). It was pretty disturbing. The battery has a ridiculously long life, I have had it for well over a month and have only charged it once despite multiple uses.

I read a previous review which pointed out that the instructions included with this unit were sorely lacking. I can personally attest to that point. It is also very obvious to me that whoever wrote the instructions is not a fluent English speaker. I read through the basics (how to turn the unit on, how to record, how to store the recording, how to erase), but I still have NO idea whatsoever how to move the file from the unit to my computer. (I saw a YouTube video posted on that one which I will view later). The unit does do a GREAT job of recording - I used it for a one-on-one interview - but users beware: if you turn the unit on too early, it will automatically shut off after a moment or so. Keep an eye on that one. I cannot speak for how the unit functions in, say, an auditorium or meeting hall. Despite all this, I am very happy with the unit & would recommend it. Amazon sent me a used item, which I know because there is someone else's recording in the memory. Who wants a product some stranger had their filthy hands (and God knows what else) all over?! If you want to buy it as used, at a discount, great. If the item works. Which this did not.The item does not power on unless connected to charger. Battery fully charged. On/off switch has no effect. No way to turn off when on charger, no way to turn on when not connected.Too bad. It looks like a great recorder, all the features you want, stylish white die-cast metal housing... Just doesn't work for whatever reason. And I'm not going to take a chance on a replacement.Back to the drawing board....

I really like this recorder-- it records clearly but the port for the earbuds have stopped working. I used it yesterday, but today the port won't work.***** after I wrote the above- Saimpu contacted me, verified my mailing address & immediately sent a replacement- no questions asked, just apologies for my displeasure in the original device!! I will order from this company again!

Also - comes in a nice sturdy box for storage.
