Wow, what an adventerer! This book is extremely well written and I looked forward to it everyday. I highly recommend it!!

I’ve read a lot of climbing and adventure books. This is one of the better first person accounts I’ve read. Well written and edited. And what an accomplishment to climb and ski the Seven Summits.

In my next life I want to be Kit's friend. Hid the book in my lap and finished reading it at work as I could not put it down. Wept at the end with exhaustion and relief - felt like I had been up and down those mountains with her. If you are looking for a fantastic adventure story featuring a woman who is not only courageous beyond words but also someone you would like to sit down and have a glass of wine with - READ THIS! Wow. Thanks Kit for sharing your story but more for sharing the inside of your head as well...both so incredibly inspiring!

What a great book! I finished it about a month ago and am still talking about it and can't stop thinking about it. Makes me want to spend more time outside. Amazing story told by (what seems to be) an amazing person. I would highly recommend -- especially to folks who like to hike, tour, and ski.

I received this book as a gift from a friend. I loved everything about it. Kit tells her great story and her narrative is easy to follow and she seems downright pleasant. I ended up buying this as a gift for another friend, I am very excited to share this fun read. The book arrived in great condition and on schedule.

Well written story moved along quickly. I had lots of feels throughout! Thoroughly enjoyed the journey and felt like I was there with her! Great adventure and amazing feat!

This is an amazing book - well written and compelling. Kit is an adventurer with a great big spirit. Her achievement is impressive and her account of how she managed to pull it off is fascinating.

If you love skiing cold,windswept ridges. Traversing unfriendly terrain to pursue your dreams, but never seem to have enough time to do as much as you'd like to. Higher love will take you there. Sweet read.

This is a highly entertaining yet very personal account of maybe the ultimate skiing and mountaineering adventure. It made me think about my own life goals and how I approach them.I had expected a mountaineering thriller that includes hardship, resolve, good luck, bad luck and ultimate success. I have not been disappointed.But the book goes much further: The second thread is the touching and heart-breaking story about Kit DesLauriers time with her wolf Alta and how this relationship provided guidance in her life. These parts of the book give an emotional and very personal background that make this story so much more than an action story.However, the most surprising and too me the unique feature of Kit DesLauriers story is the third layer: Sharing her inner voice, how she deals with it, acknowledging it, but deciding consciously what to do with it. This layer has made the strongest impression on me. The fact that the author shares her moments of weakness, of doubt, of inner struggle raised my deep sympathy for what she has done. It resonated a lot with me.It most likely took a woman to write an account like this – men, including myself, being less articulate to express this properly, even though we probably go through very similar emotions.I highly recommend this book and I am very grateful for inspiring and thought-provoking hours I spent reading this book.
