There is no book on the planet that has touched my life more than the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. Yes I mean that. This is my good Book. This is my Bible. There are lessons on how to be a good person here that are just as valid as any Holy Book. There is love in Goodkinds Writing. It doesn't ask you to believe in anything of course. It's not a "How you should Live" Manual.But it does give you a great IDEA on how to be a good person, and think for yourself, and have faith in nature, uncertainty, friends/family, and YOURSELF. This fantasy taught me more about being human, and accepting others, than any Holy Book ever has.It taught me how to think of all of us as Humans. Good and bad. One race. One people. One life to live.So stop blaming someone else, (like you might be thinking of retaliating right now!) I'm not gonna blame you and yours, so try that out for yourself. Likewise Don't ask me to defend anyone else but myself by my words and actions!Like Terry Said, your life is your OWN...rise up and live it.

Amazing character choice and development. The books do a great job of weaving together a magical and very realistic world. They tie together in ways you wouldn't imagine, with details from late in the series shedding light on events that you don't even question from as far back as book one. It does a great job of instilling a sense of right and wrong, driving home good moral lessons and thought-provoking dilemmas. Absolutely the best book series I have ever read and I would recommend it to anyone willing to take the time to read. It is a long series, but well worth your time. ...PS: the books are far better than the TV series.

Terry Goodkind is a wonderful writer, in fact, one of the best SCI FI writers of our times. It's just too bad that the TV series based on these books is so bad. First, the series doesn't stick to the episodes in the books at all. Anyone who has read the books would resent the TV series, I believe. The acting is terrible and the scenes are taken out of consequence according to Goodkind's writings. I realize that a TV series is NOT going to be EXACTLY like the books, but it should, at least, follow the theme as closely as possible. I sure hope Terry Goodkind received a lot of money for the rights because it is doubtful the series will run past 1 year. A devoted reader of all Terry Goodkind's books but a very disgruntled TV viewer based on same.

Pros: Terry Goodkind begins to drift away from the perhaps mushy romantic style of his earlier books. While I enjoyed the series I felt that it often was somewhat cheesy. Some people didn't like the books prior to these but I thought they were well written and gave you a better grasp for the world Goodking was attempting to create.Con: The last two books in this set are short, so less enjoyable time spent on them!I would reccomend these books to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy and likes some semblance of romance.

Just when you think how can Terry Goodkind keep makeing this seires any better, you pick up the next book and get captured all over again by these amazing characters, great book, as are all in this seires I have read so far. By ordreing the box sets I don't have to wait for the next book to come, or worry that the next one won't be as good but they all are so far! One of my favorite series of all time. With the exception of a few stumbles at the end (publisher demands) this was and still is an extremely entertaining, provocative and superbly well written story. To call it a romance is to say Roots was about slavery. This is not for everyone but for serious fantasy and high fantasy fans this is a great read. Hated to have to wait a year in between books when they first came out. Full of plot twists and turns, a whole cast of characters that appear willy nilly through all the books, puzzles, politics, emotions, it has it all that any reader could ask for.
