as light entertainment, it was OK
This is a book I got in the Kindle edition for free recently. I read it today. As light reading goes, it was OK.Cooch, a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, gets into trouble defending his sister from an attempted rape and gets thrown in jail for his trouble.Fortunately, his dad is a medal of honor winner and knows a senator who is in charge of a secret government agency that has a bunch of bad asses that work for it and the senator sends one of them to deal with the problem. The kid is only 16 but just to get him out of town, he is accepted into the marines, and after basic training goes to work for the CIA. Then he becomes their best killer and black ops specialist. It is a little annoying that the kid is smarter and stronger than everyone else. His manhood is even larger than average.Eventually he takes down a Columbian drug lord who has a side business stealing national security secrets. Not much here that is really plausible and for me that is what separates an average story from a really good one. This one is just average in that respect. Besides the martial arts and other military skills he learns, Cooch finds time to go to school. And, just as a bonus, his grandfather is a Bedouin shiek who seems to want his grandson to take over for him.Still, as light entertainment, it was OK.

Epitome of Machisimo
This book is a perfect example of all the lustful, fantasy, macho dreams that some men have. Actually it was funny in a sick sort of way. The protagonist, Cooch, with an unpronounceable last name, possessed it all. He was wealthy thanks to a fortune he stole and invested wisely. He was a "political assassin", seemingly making him steps above your average run-of-the mill assassin. He dressed the best, drove the best, drank the best, knew something about everything, had a body that would put Mr. America to shame, and, of course, the writer was careful to let us know he was no wimp in the "weenie" department either. It was when I came to the description of the verbal torture of a man and his date that I realized that this book was really, really stupid. The tone was lopsided....everything was to the extreme. Even the villains were the worst of the worst.I do have to commend the writer for trying to pull off the super-hero genre. Clive Cussler comes to mind as one that has excelled in this field. I may check back after the writer has a few more books under his belt. Then again, maybe not. It was just too silly.

Okay but Could be Better
The writing of this book was really very good, and I must say that I enjoyed the read, However, this book lost a star because of some very newbie mistakes. Repetition of concepts, details, and strategies abound, and there's a huge backstory dump right in the middle that either should have been the beginning of the book or left out. It was a good stretch of story, but it was way out of place. Another issue was the enormous chapter titles. There were many places where there wasn't room across the page for an entire word, and a couple instances where the title pour across to a second page. To me that shows carelessness for the presentation of the work, and in truth it was really annoying.

Surprisingly Awesome!
Man am I glad I found this author and series on Bookbub. The description sounded interesting and you couldn't beat the price..Free! Anyway it's my genre spy/spec ops and a series. The book is very well written with great believable characters and nice back and subplots. Reads very much like a David Hagberg, Andy McNabb action novel. I loved this one so much I just bought the other 2 in the series. I love finding these little surprises, authors who aren't well known that turn out a nice finished enjoyable product. A very solid 4.5 Stars across the board! I will now add this author to my list of keepers. Give it a shot guys, you will thank me.

Cooch
I enjoy most books where the "good guys" win and this was one of them. The reason for only 4 stars is because the good guy was just a little too good. Not only was he physically superior in EVERY way that a man can be but it seemed to me that he was also intellectually beyond belief. The only thing that he seemed to lack was the ability to fly.On the positive side, the book was well written and a good read and when the headlines get me down, I'll read another. I expect that I will eventually read all of the Cooch series.

OUR SILENT WARRIOR'S
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN LIVE IN THIS WORLD TODAY IS HAVING OUR SILENT WARRIOR'S. WHY SHOULD WE ACT LIKE SCHOOL CHILDREN WHEN THEY CUT THE HEAD'S OF OUR KID'S OFF ON NATIONAL TV. IF YOU AS AN AMERICAN THINK WE'RE NOT ACTING CIVILIZED AS A NATION THEN THINK HOW THE WORLD HAS CHANGED.WE CAN NO LONGER CODDLE THESE MADMEN AND THINK OURSELVES BETTER FOR IT. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID OF US UNLESS WE START TO DO UNTO THEM AS THEY DO UNTO US. THEY ARE IN OUR BACKYARD NOW, DO YOU WANT TO BAKE THEM COOKIES OR CUT THE HEAD OFF THE SNAKE BEFORE HE STRIKES? I SAY TTHANK YOU TO OUR SILENT WARRIOR'S WHO DO THIS ALL THE TIME SO WE CAN SLEEP EASY AT NIGHT.

One of the better attempts at a Reacher/Pike type in a while...
I'm a fan of Reacher, Pike, Davenport and probably a few others and am always on the lookout for more. This is one of the better attempts I've seen in a while. Not perfect, and for some reason there's always a tendency to make even the "smart" women characters in this genre act like idiots. But on the whole, the writing was much better than some of the others I've read recently. I read it over two days and would certainly read a sequel. SOme of the plot points strain credulity a bit, I'm okay with it for the most part, but prefer the more realistic plotlines. Lee Child is certainly guilty of this too. I would recommend this to a fan of the genre.

One Pumped Up, High-Tech, Military-Style Thriller!
Book combines a likeable protagonist (Cooch) together with a diverse team of equally talented professionals in his arsenal to take on the terrorists in this real page-turner. A well-written book from the aspect of the author having great depth of knowledge with regards to military hardware making this actioner all the more believable. Having purchased this back in September of 2013 I'm long overdue grabbing another book in the series as it was definitely a thrill ride!

it's possibly one of the worst books I've ever tried to read
Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, when this popped up free (or cheap) and had comparisons to Jack Reacher, I leapt at the chance. Sadly, it's possibly one of the worst books I've ever tried to read. The author suffers from a tell, rather than show approach to character development. When trying to flesh out the Cooch or the love interest we are simply told that they are both super-smart, and rich as a result. There's nothing in their conversation that actually demonstrates that.Don't think I'm being intellectually hoity-toity for the sake of it, I LOVE the likes of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, but those are fast-paced thriller told well.I gave up before page 50, I suggest you don't even bother.

Unputdownable - well worth the read!
Excellent! Interesting characters, well fleshed out so you could understand what made them tick. Alex's father, now disabled, is a war hero, and Alex's mother has Beduoin ancestry - an interesting mixture. Alex is clearly very bright, but not really achieving as expected, and showing all the signs of going off the rails to a bad future. As the story unfolds Alex's terrible past experiences understandably affect his later decision making and behaviour. This was fast paced and exciting, and in some respects worryingly in line with some of today's global concerns.I will definitely want to read future books by Robert Cook. Highly recommended.

Above average thriller
This is an above average thriller with the main character given an excellent background story which helps understand his character and how he behaves later in the book .The writer has some interesting things to say about both politicians and terrorists and these will probably cause you to re-examine your own views .The story is fast paced , once the scene setting has taken place , and whilst like most action thrillers some of the " with one bound he was free " scenarios defy belief , most of the story is very credible .

This black opps almost gets a black review. Sorry not for me
A previous review likened the author to Jack Higgins.I'm sorry I'll have to disagree with that. The Eagle has landed or flown this is not.The back story of the main character I found just too hard to believe. The almost repeated male sexual violence just didn't add to the plot.A hate star would be wrong. As I know I couldn't do better. But I'll pass on the rest of the series.

National Secrets,Covert group,Terrorism,Drug Barons,Spooks.
A great set of Characters,a storyline of today's world.A main Character who is a believable person in believable circumstances in a modern world where Terrorism and spooks are accepted as playing a role in the 21stCentury.The first book I have read by this Author but definitely not the last.An enjoyable and entertaining read.
