This clever device is so simple to use. Works well on standard sewing thread.
This device only takes a bit of practice for threading a manual sewing needle. I think it will also work on a sewing machine needle but I have not tried it yet. The directions for a manual needle are included and are easy to follow. I used Coates and Clarke All-Purpose polyester thread and a needle with a very small eye which is about 2.5" long. The eye is just big enough for the thread. To thread the needle, first fold about 3' of your piece of thread back over the other side so that a loop forms at the fold. Then put the needle in the hole near the corner on the top on the side opposite the button in the contrasting color. Then use the button to move the hook through the hole of the needle and out the opening on the long side opposite the button. It will help to look at the hole on the narrow, long side of the device as you maneuver the needle around. You will need to wiggle the needle around while pressing the button gently till the hook finds the eye and pokes through. Keep the button depressed but hold the device so the needle points straight up. Now pick up the loop and loop it over the protruding hook, keeping some tension on the thread so it does not come lose. Now gradually release the button. When fully released, remove the needle slowly. At this point both sides of the thread are in the eye. You will need to pull the shorter side clear of the needle. Grab the shorter side and continue to pull the thread through the eye until both sides of the thread are the same length and the needle is securely on in the middle of the piece of thread. Now knot your thread and sew!

Finally, I can thread even a small holed needle
This is so easy to use. It didn’t come with directions, but I figured out how to use it easily. I dropped the end of the needle with the hole in it right into a small hole in the plastic. The needle hole lined up so the small wire with a hook could go through it. The thread was laid onto the little hook. I let go of the lever and it pulled the thread right through the hole in the needle. It’s simple but genius. Price was great. It cost a little over $3 for 5 of these needle threading gadgets. I’ll be sharing them.

Not intuitive, but otherwise great
This is not an intuitive design, hence the love it or hate it reviews. The lack of instruction is the only reason I'm dinging off a star, otherwise, these are great... once you figure out how to use them. There automatic needle threader on my sewing machine broke a while ago. I paid almost twice as much for ONE Dritz sewing machine needle threader, which is too flimsy and also stopped working. The hooks on these guys are way more sturdy, and I got five of them for less money. Yes, they're cheap, but I think their usefulness exceeds expectations for the price. I'm going to try to attach a video for hand-sewing needles. I haven't found a video for sewing machine needles, but that's what the flip-out arm is for. Just line the needle up with the grooves on either side of the hook, slide the threader down the needle until the hook slips through the eye, place thread over hook and pull it through the needle. I no longer have to take the needle out of the machine to thread, which was a massive pain in the butt. Loving these!

Not for embroidery
TL;DR Don't use this for embroidery floss; it might be okay for thin threads. Still wouldn't recommend.I read some of the reviews on here and figured "hey, I'm a crafty person, I can probably make this work better than some of these folks." WRONG. Many split threads and broken needles later, and I'm truly fed up.My complaints: - The hook is tiny; it probably works okay for thread, but is too small for one strand of embroidery floss, let alone two. - If you don't line your needle up -just right-, this device breaks the eye. No margin for error. None. - You can't use the spring-loaded section to load thread part-way through a project. The way it's designed, it requires both thread ends to pull through. If one of those ends is attached to something... well, then, you just get to include your threader into your project. - The other side of the threader (presumably for when one of your ends is attached) is so awkard it's basically impossible to use. You -have- to keep your needle at a right angle to it, or the hook won't stay through the eye. The hook is just as tiny as the spring-loaded hook, so it's challenging to loop thread over it, -and- it's incredibly unstable, so it's really hard to keep in place while you're doing all of that. Maybe if I had three hands, I could have used this end. But I do not, and frankly, it's easier to thread my needles by hand. This may be a useful gadget for a very limited use case (thin thread where you can pull both ends through), but you still run the risk of breaking your needles if you're not exceedingly careful. At least the color palette is cute? Oh wait, that was sarcasm. They're ugly as sin, and the plastic is so cheap that it makes them look even worse. Don't waste your money.

Yes. It works!
I'm old and threading a needle, even with glasses, was difficult. I didn't mend because I couldn't thread a darn needle! This works great. Simple design and I wonder why no one ever thought of it sooner.

Big eyelet needles it won't work
I bought this for trying to assist in threading needles quicker, but this actually takes more time to do so. Half the time it doesn't work and I also ended up breaking the little metal hook for pulling too hard. I think it definitely could have been better made. It does what it says it will do, but only for bigger eyelets. If you're trying to thread a needle with a tiny eyelet, this will not work for that. It is best for bigger eyelet needles. It wasn't as easy to use as I had hoped so I was a little disappointed.
