The Prince of the Pond: Otherwise Known as De Fawg Pin

Great Book for Children and Informative
This book was a great spin on a frog fairytale. I think it provides opportunities for the reader and child to understand the spin on a well known fairy tale. Prince of the pond is a great book for children to read because it is captivating but also educational. The book also weaves in so many different facts about frogs so the reader is able to learn about an entire section of amphibians that they might not have researched into otherwise. The book is informative while also taking the reader on a journey. The frogs language is sometimes hard to read, but that is how you get to know the characters. Some of the vocabulary in the book may also be hard to understand if you are a young reader, but context will help with the words, and again you will be learning about frogs, so some things you may have never heard of. The book also has many illustrations that are very realistic and provide the reader with a great overview of the scenes written.

Great book!
This was such a fun read. It is adventurous and endearing. While reading, I found myself learning so much about frogs, given that the book is sprinkled with fun facts throughout. It was amazing to see the relationship of Pin and the special green frog develop. Such a wonderful read!

Great book for children!!
This book is a must-read!! I honestly loved this book, it has a great story with amazing details. The story will not only have you hooked, but you learn so much about frogs. I am glad I bought myself a copy of this book that I will now add to my bookshelf. Great book for teaching kids about literature components or science in general. I am currently looking for a part 2!!

... third grade classes for 14 years and the kids love it and often say
I have read this story to my third grade classes for 14 years and the kids love it and often say, "This is the best book ever!" I do paraphrase a few sections in chapter 5 as I'm reading when it talks about mating. My class loves it when I use silly voices for the different characters, especially "De Fawg Pin". This book is very entertaining and also filled with non-fiction information about frogs, which goes perfect with my frog themed classroom. My readers are hooked and can't wait to read the next two books in the trilogy.

Wonderful Book to read to the Family
This book was read to me in the fourth grade and I always remembered it. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I wanted to read it to her. Since she is too young to understand, I read it to her Daddy instead and he loved it too! Sweet story and great artwork included.

A wonderful story.
The Prince of the Pond is charming and well-written, a funny, romantic and moving story of love and commitment- and a wonderful take on the Frog Prince of fairy tales. It's also full of accurate frog science facts, too, which I find particularly appealing. I read this out-loud to my husband over a span of a several nights and we deeply enjoyed it. We were genuinely sorry to come to the end of the story. We look forward to reading more from this author!

Too traumatic for my 6 and 10 year olds
OK, I know people rave about this, but the end is so traumatic that I was consoling my kids for days. If you do buy it, Please preread it.
