**UPDATE**Not Good Quality - Failed Early IMO
***UPDATE 2/27/16, 2 Years, 7 Months, and 2 days after I installed themI've been hearing a little whining from my car the past few days so I thought I would take advantage of a 60 degree Minnesota February day and see if I could find the cause. I replaced the factory hubs in July 2013 and they were EXTREMELY stuck due to our nasty road salt, had to take them to the local NAPA because my 20 ton press was laughed at by my attempt. I had always heard good things about the quallity and life of these bearings so I purchased them. I checked the Timken driver side bearing first thing and could tell right away that is where my noise is coming from, not a ton of play but by grabbing the wheel on the inside with both hands like a steering wheel and rocking the tire back and forth I could tell this was the problem and the failed bearing. Not happy with these bearings and the fact that I got only 2 1/2 years from them and the stock bearings gave me over 5 years.Original Review, July 2013-These Timken bearings appear to be excellent bearings. Time will tell on their durability. The OEM bearings that these are replacing had 130,000 miles on a 2008 Prius. The only issue I had was getting the bearing hub assembly pressed off of the steering knuckle. I had to take it to a machine shop because my little diy hydraulic press was not enough. When the shop guy pressed it out he had said that with the new road salt formulations they use up here in MN he sees alot more "rust welding" going on with cars. I will post back if I experience anything short of 130,000 miles that I got with the OEM bearings.

This bearing is less than a year old and has gone bad, the bearing is making a whining noise and after being checked by a mechanic at Bowie Sunoco it was confirmed that the bearing needs to be replaced. I would like to know if this item is covered under warranty.

Dings in an otherwise nicely machined part
Bought as a warehouse open item deal from Amazon. Notable dings make me question if this was installed by someone then removed after they over-tightened it. The bearing feels very tight and does not spin freely, but it's packed with grease so I did't expect it to spin easily. For now I'm giving four stars until it's on the car and I've put some miles on. I'll update my review later. If all goes well I'll update to five stars because the quality of the materials appears to be very good. Clearly a cast part that was very nicely CNC machined.

25% failure
Bought these bearings in 2016. They worked well for 60k miles. Bought them again in 2018. Within 6k miles one bearing had failed completely and was howling like a banshee. You'll get what you pay for.If you want guaranteed reliability go with the OEM Toyota bearing/hub assembly. I did. Right out of the box the OEM bearings felt better than these Timken versions. The OEMs turned smoothly right away, these TImken bearings were very stiff out of the box. You'll save money with these, but you may find yourself purchasing them more often and repairing your car more often too.

Failed after one year.
Coming up on 1 year after installation the bearing starts making noise again. Didn't have time to take it back apart while the noise level increased.Took it apart today and the bearing is very rough and noisy with a bit of grease leaking around the back. It's toast. Do not buy.I thought the bearing felt a bit tight when it was new, but presumed it just needed breaking in. Nope.

Had great "fun" removing the old ones
If you keep reading this, you'll thank me.Ordered these for an '08 Prius. Had great "fun" removing the old ones, but that's beside the point. There are TWO types of matches made by Timken for an '08 Prius, one is this one, and the other cost $140 (per side). The more expensive ones, are probably the real good ones, because these ones were DOA (found out after they were in), they made that humming bearing noise from day 1, after being installed. Why not 1 star then ? well, I was able to return them to Amazon, for a full refund. So, besides extra 3 hours under the car, it cost me nothing.I ended up getting Toyota (Koyo) bearings, and that sealed the deal. Timken bearings are supposed to be perfect, and although I used them before with 0 issues, I'm going to have to be very careful when purchasing Timken bearings in the past.It would be much better for Timken to remove this listing altogether, it's a major damage to their brand. Either that, or trace the origin of this product, because something might be fishy.

The new one went in and easily and reassembly was straightforward
Installed it on an 08 Prius that had a rumbly bearing at 225,000 miles. Getting it out required removing the entire steering knuckle and beating/pressing the old bearing out. It was severely seized in the aluminum knuckle. Once the old one was out, I cleaned the knuckle's bore with 220 grit sandpaper just enough to clean it up. The new one went in and easily and reassembly was straightforward. I strongly recommend the Timken over the cheaper bearings.

Timken makes great hubs, just make sure they send you genuine Timken
I had doubts had ordering parts online and I was right. I ordered two of these and Unfortunately, the hubs were absolutely different in quality, appearance, and functionality. One was amazing, looked beautiful, spins very nicely. The other was just ok and did not spin as easily.
