I got this at a killer price to replace a green one. I raised the mount up a foot so wasn't able to reuse the old drill holes. My ladder was wrong, my level too short putting my face too close to the house. Made due with an old laser level but it was easy after that. Drilled the holes, installed the mounts and clamped up the awning. If it's not perfectly level, I sure can't' tell. The 3 part rod had some give in it over a 6ft span so was worried for no reason.The only difference I noted with the new one was the cord and pulleys. The old cord was thinner, synthetic over a core. The new one is thicker with larger pulleys but looks like cotton and shorter in length.*Note* hang the pulleys on the mounting bracket after you put up the awning. Then route the cord.

Just what I needed

Saw the product and decided this is exactly what I needed over my back door, so I ordered the 6 ft. awning. Received it in a timely manner but the box was chewed up with so much tape on it, it was difficult to open. Inside was the fabric awning and 8 metal bars - no hardware. So, I go through the hassel of notifying Castlecreek and Amazon of my issue, repacking and returninging it with a replacement awning requested. Received the replacement today and guess what - no hardware. I called Castlecreek and know what they told me? They do not pack the hardware - they send it over to another manufacturer for that process. Well, Castlerock, that other manufacturer is dropping the ball big time and you just lost a customer. I can't see going around this same tree again will result in a different outcome.

The fabric is much better than the cheap Aleko awnings I purchased a few years ago. They are all shredded now. The fabric appears to be a thick canvas and it looks like it will last longer. Time will tell, but these awnings are pretty high quality. One final note, I have noticed that they keep the house much cooler so that I don't have to run my air conditioner.

I bought one to see if it can handle a Florida hurricane. Yes it can(folded up). I want to buy more, 10 to be exact. Only to find they are sold out. Tried to contact castle creek to see if they are just delayed or no longer made, only to be stonewalled. Awning is great access to company, not so much.

Priced right, arrived on time, well packaged and intact. Frame and hardware are well made and seem quite sturdy.This is the 48” version replaces our previous 24” version which lasted 5 years facing south in the Florida sun. The twenty-four inch version was no longer offered, but this 48” awning balances aesthetically over our single 24” glass-block window on a long, other-wise windowless wall. Very pleased!

Been looking around for some time for an awning that didn’t cost $300. Finally found this one, and I’m glad I did. High quality materials and simple installation.
