Amerihome RTOOL34 34-Inch Aluminum Reaching Tool

Ok, so I bought this as a gag gift for a short friend of mine, and it works great for picking things up off the ground if you have a bad back, but I wouldn't trust it so much to reach heavy items off of high shelves. But hey, it was cheap and shipping was free, so well worth the laughs it gave me!

I got this reaching tool so that I can still pick things off the floor while im wearing my baby. It picks things up as it should, and even some heavier items. The locking mechanism kind of ruined it for me. It kept locking up while I was picking things up. Also, its folds for storage which is nice. But there doesnt appear to be anything keeping it folded or unfolded. So it kept bending while I was using it. If I end up buying another one, I will probably fork up a few more bucks and get a nice one.

I just ordered this item. Tried it for the first time to see how it worked. No success, the cable inside broke trying to grip the item. It seems like a good concept, just needs to be constructed with better material such as slightly heavier gauge cable and/or perhaps a better way of anchoring it to the plastic handle. I was hoping to use the item to move stuff around in my fishtank that is too deep to reach. It was made of aluminum which I liked because it would not corrode/rust from the salt. However, the actual grip tongs are probably steel from the looks of it, so it probably best that it did not work out for me. I hope others can find it useful, but I am returning it for an Amazon Gift Card. It did not suit my needs, and the quality is substandard just like anything made in China.

My husband and I are retirement age workampers and we used this tool to pick up trash, etc. in the campground we were working in. We could fold it and carry it around in the golf cart and it was handy to use. This was so much better than leaning over and picking it up with our hands. More sanitary too! It was especially great for picking up soap bars, hair fasteners, and who knows what in the shower stalls. People can be so messy.

This is my third reaching tool of the same style. The first two from Walmart and all are still working. I think Walmart are a few dollars less.

Product was as described. Would buy from again. A+

The tongs do not coincide completely but it works.
