Easy to set up -- if you don't make the mistake I made
The first thing you have to do is download the correct app. There are more than one app that use the name Smart Life. Be sure to download the one by Volcano Technology.Second, when you start the app, don't sign in as a guest. If you do, you won't be able to pair it with Alexa. And once you sign in as a guest, there's no way you can go back and register. You have to delete the app and reinstall it. I wasted a couple hours of my life before I figured that out.Once I registered, adding devices was smooth and quick. So I ordered four more.

Works perfectly after custom firmware
I received two 2-packs, and after some customization work, they are all nicely integrated with my Home Assistant setup. They work as described: effectively a smart switch for a single light socket, exactly what I needed to smarten up my garage led lights. The remainder of this review is technical jargon related to the customization work, and can be safely ignored. At first I connected these to the SmartLife app, which I used to obtain the firmware version number (which was 1.2.1 for mine, double check yours before attempting to flash).I used tuya-cloudcutter to flash them with the latest OpenBeken CCtr firmware; if you've flashed Tasmota before, it's a very straightforward process. I selected "flash custom firmware", "by firmware version and name", chose "1.2.1 oem_bk7231n_control_switch" (again, double check your own firmware version first), and followed the directions for the two-part long-press to enter wifi pairing mode. "Standard" pairing mode (with the SmartLife app) for these uses Bluetooth (though you will still connect them to wifi), but wifi pairing uses the traditional "SmartLife-XXXX" wifi access point.Once flashed, configure module with P6 = WifiLED, P7 = Rel 0, P26 = Btn 0. Run custom command "SetStartValue 0 -1" to maintain on/off state when the socket loses power. I also enabled flags 10, 27, and 34 for my HA setup, and they are working through the MQTT integration, which provides a single Light entity (or a Switch entity if you don't enable flag 34).

Products works great, needs better setup instructions
It took a couple of minutes to diagnose the product, once I stopped following the instructions and just went for it everything was fine. They skipped the step in the instructions that you have to put it in pairing mode. I’ve set up enough of these types of devices that I was okay without them having that step in the instructions. Product works great for what I needed.

Great product!
It’s only been a couple of days but so far I'm really impressed by these. We needed to put our garage lights on a timer, tried several programmable timer switches but none of them worked due to old and complicated double switch wiring. Next we tried 3 different brands of wifi connected lightbulbs. The first 2 simply wouldn't connect, the third brand (GE) finally worked but the bulbs were too weak and didn’t provide enough illumination. Finally found these sockets and figured we’d give them a try. I really wasn’t expecting them to work given the lightbulb connectivity issues but they paired almost immediately! The app took a little time to figure out but we were able to group both sockets on 1 switch and program a schedule (they can still be controlled and scheduled individually if needed). Definitely recommend.

Connection unreliable
Set up with fairly easy, but the socket is essentially useless to me because it consistently goes offline after about a day requiring that the power to the socket be toggled off and back on. It has a direct line of sight connection to my wireless router about 25 ft away. I've learned that it is possibly due to the unit not working well with modern routers and requiring legacy compatibility settings enabled, but I'm not about to downgrade my home's wireless network to accommodate these sockets. There are much better alternatives out there.

Works great for remote basement lights
I needed to control pull string light fixtures in the basement. I had bought some multi panel LED lights connected to the old fashioned pull string fixture but the kids were breaking the lights by trying to use the pulse string that would get wrappedaround the LED fixture. This allows us to just use Google Voice to turn the basement lights on.before we go down there.I searched specifically for these as they use the smart life app which I have used for years to Control outdoor landscape lights and smart timers for christmas lights.Adding them to the app was super simple as the app searched for them and found them immediately.. I am very happy with this purchase so far.

Installation is not straightforward
So like some other reviews the installation is not straightforward as most smart devices that use 2.4Ghz wifi. If you are like me and use a dualband router chances are you can't split the frequencies either like in my case I use Google Wifi with a mesh. So when setting up, the phone will automatically connect to 5Ghz and there is no way you can force your phone to switch to 2.4. So what I had to do was unplug my mesh (my additional wifi points) leaving only my main router which is on the other side of the house on. I went to the furthest, opposite side where my phones wifi was the weakest and used an extension cable with the spare socket outlet cable I had and was able to set up that way because my phone was now connected using 2.4Ghz. So stupid that this cannot auto configure between a dualband like all my others but eh. Not everyone will have the time and patience as I did either, but all in all it works now as it should for our greenhouse lights. I will not provide anything higher than 3 stars due to how difficult it was to get these set up when it should've been a lot simpler than this. This is coming from someone who's entire home is smart enabled, so take it from me when I say I know what I'm doing & saying.PS for those that lost the instructions, download Smart Life app and it'll be for the item labeled Switch (WiFi) under lighting. The other app mentioned in the reviews is Tuya Smart, its the EXACT say thing as Smart Life just rebranded so don't expect anything different.
