Electric Oil Diesel Transfer Pump Fuel Liquid Extractor Car Motor 160W 40L/Min

My heating oil tank had cracked and I needed to transfer the oil into another tank. This little 12 volt pump transfered my oil in minutes and saved the day as I was able to remove my heating oil to below the crack and save my oil.

I don't usually write reviews but this bit of kit deserves one. I bought the pump to transfer domestic heating oil from one tank to another when I had to replace the tank. This little pump did a brilliant job, shifting 300 litres of oil in about 15 minutes. It lifted the oil approximately 2 metres and transferred it to another tank about 6 metres away, all well within its specified maximum capabilities.The only precaution I took was to run it for a maximum of ten minutes and let it cool for another ten, just to avoid stressing the pump.The only issue I encountered was finding 25mm internal diameter tubing to work with the pump. I got some off eBay but it was slightly lacking in rigidity, so the pump tended to collapse the tubing on the suction side; I had to keep the tubing held in a round cross-section. To work properly, you need to use quite rigid tubing, at least on the suction side. Cheap, thin tubing is fine for the delivery side of the pump.

Quick delivery and ready to go once hoses from old pump swapped over. Only downside is that unlike most more expensive pumps this model does not have an internal by-pass valve which is fine if you are pumping with open/free flowing hoses, but if you add a triggergun or shut off valve be aware that the pump will build up a lot of pressure, groan and slow down so ideally you need to switch off the power asap. Other than that it does what was wanted OK.

This item is small and compact. Light in weight and has excellent suction. I would recommend this

Pumps well. But aspects of manufacture are poor quality. Cast iron work poor. Electrical connections (inside switch cover)just twisted wire with screw cap cover. I re-wired with crimp fittings. But still good value for price.
