This really is a wonderful game and I think you'll like playing it with your kids
At the time of this review, I have played this game 26 times. My kids are 9 and 6. At first glance, this game looks very simple--perhaps too simple. So let's be clear, this is an easy to learn game because there are not many rules. But this is also a game that you get to add to it as you go which really makes it exciting to play a few games at a time. Within the box there are a bunch of envelopes that you only get to open after a certain number of games have passed. You can open up envelopes faster if you complete various achievements from the rulebook. This game is best played with kids. I wouldn't play it over other games with a group of adults, but there is a lot more to this game than most "kids games" So the game always feels new. Because you can try to win in different ways to unlock certain achievements so that you can open new envelopes. Those new envelopes will change the game in certain ways which will make you want to play again to try them out. And then when you've tried them out you'll realize you're close to getting to open a new envelope so why don't we play one more time and see if we can open it?

Wonderful Game
This was a Christmas gift for my grandkids ages 8, 10, and 13. They love it, and even the adults enjoy playing it with them. The rules are simple, and the envelopes contain new twists that keep the game interesting. The kids don't realize they are developing problem solving and communication skills as they work cooperatively to reach their goals. They're just having fun!

Best Kids Game of 2019
My son and I no longer play this game. Sadly. But man we got our moneys worth! We probably played over 40 games of Zombie Kidz. This game does a few things amazingly well...it slowly adds rules and complexity...it constantly provides incentives for further gameplay...and the gameplay is fairly quick for kids with short attention spans. You also still are allowed small progressions even when you lose. The theme and artwork are fun. Like a video game, once you complete the campaign we don't feel a huge need to revisit the game. But what other kids game have we played 40 plus times?? By far the best gaming experience I have had with my son, who was 5 when we played. I think the ideal age would be 5 to 8. For 20ish bucks...what are you waiting for?! 2024 Update: bought this game a second time to play with my other son, who is nine. He is not a gamer at all, almost an anti-gamer. He loves this game and it has been, again, one of my best gaming experiences. Just a note: I was curious why there were some negative reviews for the game...looks like most (if not all) are commenting on the rules only being in English. I don't see anything in the product description that would communicate otherwise but maybe I missed something.

Very good game for young kids, highly recommended
During Pandemic time in 2020, my kids lost a lot of activities and I tried hard to find something to keep them busy and entertained. This game is a great help! My 6 year old and 8 year old were able to play together independently without fighting! So some of the highlights of the game that me and my kids like about: 1) Theme of zoombies (teacher and school) is very attractive, kids have fun looking at pictures of all zoombies evolved from teachers; 2) co-op setting of the game is a win in my family. My 6 year old and 8 year old used to fight in a lot of games and one always end up with tears, since they want to win so badly. In this game, they win as a whole team. The "high-five" feature in this game when you lock a gate is great since that made them to celebrate with each other and be team players during the course of the game; 3) Legacy style of the game is a new exciting introduction to kids. They are very excited to see the game evolved when they play more. Not to mention it is so much fun to collect all the stickers by trying to win trophies for various missions. 4) The simple rules made it possible for kids to play independently. We have enjoyed other games such as pandemic, splendor, carcassonne, tickets to ride and labyrinth. But in most cases, I have to be one player and play with them. This is the game that kids felt they want to make progress when I am not available and they "want" to play by themselves. I think the passport and sticker collection is driving them that way, and I'm very happy to see them motivated so strongly. Overall, an outstanding co-op legacy game for my kids (6 and 8), not sure if teenagers will like it, since the rules are very simple. PS: My kids already see the zoombie teens game and we will order it once it's available.

Weeknight game!
I got this game because my cousin is 13 years old and there might be just enough time for him to enjoy the "kid" version of this. There is Zombie Teenz, but I wanted to play through this game while we still could. We play games regularly and his go-to game is Memoir '44. His thinking skills however still needs improvement, and my husband and I do not go easy on him. I thought it might be good to try some easier kid games, since we jumped into board games that I'm mainly interested in and mostly bypassed all the kid games. While playing, it seems that the game is below his level..but there were a few times where he didn't see the best moves when there were harder decisions to be made (to be fair, I turned my brain off so I didn't all the time either). So I might think that this is too easy for him and he might think the same...but there is still room for improvement. The game does ramp up when you open the envelopes. Either way, the game board is nicely made. The artwork is fantastic, "like it's from a movie". I love that the main characters are diverse and I definitely resonate with the chubby kid in terms of...no spoilers! I love that there are envelopes that need to be opened and stickers that need to be applied. The art design and layout is colorful and fun; I wish I had something like this when I was a kid! A lot of attention to detail and care went into the production and it really comes through. I have to have to be honest with the world: we did cheat. After the first game, I said, "Yeup, let's open the first envelope!". The initial game was way too easy for us to have to sit through and play the same way 5 times, I was sure our brains would turn to goop and we would join the zombie hoard. There are also missions in the book. You're only supposed to complete one mission per game...and I asked, "What proper game does that!?". Many games allow you to complete many missions in one round...so yes, we complete multiple missions per game. I think forcing yourself to play by the rules and only do one thing at a time or open an envelope after a certain time would kill the fun and would defeat the purpose of the game. We have played Pandemic Legacy and Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, and those games we followed the rules. This game is simple enough that making it progress faster is just best for us. While I got this mainly because my cousin is 13 and he didn't seem to be having as much fun with the harder, more complex games we play, I think this would be best suited for elementary school kids, maybe 8-10 years old. Or maybe when they reach the age when they would not be traumatized by a zombie theme. It's also great, because it's supposed to take only 15 minutes, so it's something we can all play at the end of a weekday. Although, our last game, we wanted to complete a specific mission, so we ended up playing the game for 30-40 minutes. Overall, this is a nicely made game that adults and kids alike can appreciate and have fun with!

Engaging for lots of ages
I learned about this game series on the Game Schooler podcast. Zombie Kidz Flashback was a little girl's #1 board game, so I immediately added this one to cart! It is very addictive! My children absolutely DO fight during this game (we do that a lot!!), but we fought a little less with this one 😊 My kids are 9, 12, and 15. We all enjoyed it. I was very pleased that my oldest plays this game with us (we haven't finished yet!). He doesn't always play games with us, but he seems to enjoy this one. I will 100% be buying Zombie Teen and Flashback, probably this month!
