They make excellent washing machine discharge/pump filters
My LG front loader ended up having one of the 'TurboWash' jets get clogged even though I had kept up with the regular maintenance described in the manual. It basically had a fibrous plug develop that was reminiscent of a blackhead. I checked the filter and was surprised at how large the filter holes were; they were basically as effective as a colander for catching lint.Growing up with my old top loader, I remembered putting a set of old panty hose on the discharge tube so the utility sink didn't get clogged. I figured I could try something like that, but needed something that was easily accessible and filtered the water before the stray debris got to the washer's pump or jet tubes. Enter the footie socks. This allows a significant amount of stray lint/hair to actually get filtered out while not impeding the water flow to the pump. What you see pictured is about a week's worth of laundry for a household of 3, washing every temp from hot to cold and with bleach/vinegar/hydrogen peroxide.I change them out when doing the monthly 'Tub Clean' cycle and haven't had a problem with a clog since. To put them on just pull them over the "back" of the housing so the toe part of the sock points inward toward the washer. Poke a hole in the toe of the sock and slide the hoop through the hole. Pull the ankle part of the sock taut and tie it in a knot like you're tying a balloon. Then hook the bottom of the hole in the toe onto the notches on the back of the filter housing underneath the hoop. This will allow the water to flow in but not be obstructed by the mesh, and if the mesh does fill up it will allow the same safety bypass already built into the housing.

Love these…

Line dancer's solution
I teach contemporary (not country western) line dancing. I bought these to use over the toes and arch of my athletic shoes so I can wear them on the dance floor. If you're a dancer, you understand what I mean -- we need to be able to glide and turn on the balls of our feet, and regular athletic shoes grip the floor instead of sliding. Yes, there are plenty of brands of dance shoes that have soles made for this -- I've bought more than I can count -- but at my age (73) and after ankle injuries and surgery, there are few shoes that are genuinely comfortable for me, and none of these are dance shoes. I've tried lots of work-arounds, and this is a simple one -- wear my most comfortable athletic shoes, pull foot sox over the toe and arch (leaving the heel exposed) of each shoe, and dance away.I get about 6 hours of dancing out of each sock before they stretch too much to stay on the shoe. They're not high quality, but they're not made to be. Their original use is to be worn on feet, not shoes, and just for trying on shoes, not dancing. So they're fine for my use and just the right size for this purpose. I recommend them for other dancers who can't find (or don't want to spend the money on) the right dance shoes.

Perfect for protecting my tomatoes from marauding stink bugs!
No, I'm not using these socks to cover my feet, but to cover my produce, like many people are doing. For this purpose they work just as I needed. They cover the tomatoes and I can wrap them around the stem so that no little critters can get inside. The stink bugs walk around on the surface but can't get at my precious toms, yea! They stretch as the tomato grows. Thankful to find this chemical free solution to my pest problem!

Not just cut and boxed, a finished sock
Our customers like this sock so much when they are trying on shoes, that they want to take extra home. The top is banded, unlike all the others, making it so easy to slip on.

Works for what I needed
I am using them on the end of my dryer vent - they work pretty well, but they are small and round - I don’t see how they would work on a foot

Make perfect apples
I attach these to my apples with a twist tie when they are the size of a quarter. They keep the bugs from laying eggs in the apples, so there are no worms, or worm trails. Perfect apples and no chemicals! Labor intensive for about two days, then no work until harvest.
