Finally what I've been looking for!!
I've been living in my current house with a central vac system for 8 years and have never been able to do my stairs with the hose since I didn't have a power attachment (the one that came with the system just had an open end like a ShopVac attachment and didn't the do job). So I've been using various hand vacuums on the stairs which means dealing with a second vacuum/power cord. My current hand vac has been struggling to really clean the stairs so I started searching again and found this little guy. I hesitated because of the price, but finally decided to go for it and am really glad I did. I just used it for the first time and my stairs and rugs look great. I could see it picking up things my other one took a few passes to pick up so I'm beyond thrilled. It's pretty loud once the brush gets spinning, but a small price to pay even if my ears are ringing a bit afterward :) I had a hard time figuring out if it would be compatible with my hose but since it is NOT electrically powered (just uses the suction to spin the brush) it seems like it should fit all hoses. I worried a little pressure would cause the bristles to stop, but they seem to hold up just fine! The head can freely spin, which is nice and annoying at the same time...BUT I would not hesitate to recommend this if you have a central vac system. I will be sure to update my review down the road as well!

Rubber gasket came off after a minute of vacuuming and almost caused a HUGE problem!
I hate leaving bad reviews. I really do. But the problem I had with this vacuum attachment is worth cautioning others about. I used it for about a minute and the rubber gasket around the edge suddenly came off and started to get sucked up in the vacuum. If I hadn't pulled it out right away it would have caused a terrible problem - a big piece of rubber inside my central vacuuming system would have been a huge costly repair. I haven't seen any other reviews that mention this problem, but I'm not going to take any chances. I'm returning it today. I asked the question to the seller, but I didn't get an answer, which was also not good.

Loud, but works well!
Bought this to replace an old Rug Rat that was getting worn out. Compared to the old one, I'd say that this one seems quite a bit louder...however...it works great! If you have carpeted stairs in your house, and a central vac system, you need one of these!

Great performance, even with a suboptimal vacuum.
Great vacuum attachment. The only downside I've encountered is the super short hose on my upright vac but that will not be an issue once my central vac is installed.Performance-wise, this worked very well for removing cat fur from our black cat tree, which had been looking very gray. The brush is quite powerful but I noticed it doesn't do great on our loop-pile carpet. I was running this on a hose which did not really fit the attachment properly so I'm certain diminished airflow was part of the problem.I can't comment on the longevity as I've only had this attachment for a week or two but I can see we'll be using it often. Standard tools just don't get out the pine needles and cat fug like the Rug Rat.

Fits and Works
I am replacing my old original rug rat and this one fits perfectly and runs just like my old one. It may be a little louder than my old one but I have a golden retriever so I need something that sucks hair out of furniture, bedding and floor mats and this does the job.

Did not work well for me
This is the 2nd Rug Rat I purchased. Both did the exact same thing. After using it for a very short time (once or twice for a few minutes each time), it stops working properly. The brush barely moves as if it's stuck. There was hardly any pet hair in it, but I cleaned it out and had the same problem. Even when it worked, it didn't work great. Makes a lot of noise but doesn't do a whole lot. It does not work well when used on bedding, as there is no way for air to flow, so it locks up the brush. It worked better on furniture that was a more rigid construction. As soon as their is looser fabric, it loses power. I have yet to find one of these things that work well. Years ago I had one that looked very much like the Rug Rat but it was made by Kirby. It also had a vent slide on the side to control air flow. It was awesome! I had it for many, many years. It finally broke and now I can't find anything to replace it.

Broke quickly
This item broke after only a month of use. Contacted the seller and have received no reply. Would not buy from them again. Waste of money. I did get full satisfaction from Amazon, but disappointed that the seller and manufacturer both did not respond to my requests.

no warranty support for product sold by Amazon. Cannot even get questions answered.
Stopped working after about 10 uses over 6 months. The roller stopped spinning. Seller no longer sells the product and refuses any warranty support. Seller Says it is Amazon's responsibility. Amazon say warranty support should be provided by seller. The case is closed and I am stuck with a non-functioning part.
